I hate plugging and unplugging my phone. For $49 on Amazon I got the “AutoSky” wireless adapter. Rec’d same day.
I have a $10 console tray that creates a USB C and USB A out of my single console USB A. So I plugged the CarPlay adapter into the C and still have another option for charging.
If you read reviews you’ll see some adapters lag and others drop connection. After the 5 minute update it is seamless. Instantly connects to my phone when I get in. My UConnect connects as well and my CarPlay icon shows within about 30 seconds. Nothing more. It just works from there on out. Recommended.
