I recently updated my GPS Maps but I didn't unmarry my Taser, actually I didn't even think about it till later. Since the updates go directly into the head unit was it ok to leave the Taser installed? Or do I need to unmarry and reinstall?

Thanks,

Mike

Speak to Joe about this. He will give you proper answers. This is why you want to unmarry before any software updates. If you unmerry now, the tazer is going to return the “stock” data from its memory back into the jeep. If the “stock” data has changed because of an update, unmarrying may cause issues when the old “stock” data is returned to the Jeep after an unmarry procedure. Speak to Joe, he will know more.

@MikeJLUR

No need to unmarry when you are updating your "GPS Maps".

You need to do nothing in regard to the Tazer JL before or after you do a map update.

For sure if going to the dealership where PCM updates will/may be applied, you definitely do want to unmarry the Tazer JL, remove the Tazer JL hardware and reconnect the 2 cables at the Security Gateway.

I was hoping that was the case since not updating the main computer. I always unmarry when going to dealer and I probably would have with the map update if I thought about it.
Thanks much for the response.

@MikeJLUR

Your asking as you did tells me you are a responsible Tazer JL user. :like:

So many guys/gals install a programmer ... a programmer at that... and are foolish enough never to read the Tazer JL instructions and to do further research/homework in regard to using that programmer....

Those guys/gals are the ones that come here later with an issue.. a mess, whining, lost, etc..

----

In regard to over the air updates, etc... Since the Original Tazer JL hit the market in 2018 and it becoming much talked about here, there has been an occasional post saying something like ...

"I am not getting my Off Road Pages updates.. I am not getting monthly vehicle reports, etc. , XM is iffy ...and I think it is because I have a Tazer JL hooked up.

Anyway, as time went by Tazer JL user's found that the Tazer JL did not negatively impact .... keep a JL owner from getting map updates, Off Road Pages update, etc..

Received an email to update my map.
It cost $99 and is a USB stick that is being mailed.
My question is this...I have two Jeeps with the same 8.4 screen, can I use the stick twice?

Any idea of what version the update is?

Is the update worth it? Anybody have pics of what the maps look like? Or is the same layout with just updated places?

No. It's 2022 and the maps are outdated already. Stick with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
