Do I need to unmarry to update firmware?
Only if you are using a MAC (Apple). If you are using Windows then you are fine. There is an issue with Apple drivers that Joe is actively working on.

No, but... I would and do.

Joe says the Mac version of his update utility is buggy, and says you should always unmarry if on Mac. That said, software upgrades of any kind carry inherent risk. My advice is to always unmarry regardless of the OS you run on your computer.

I guess you have to weigh risk vs. reward. If you don’t unmarry, you don’t have to redo settings. However, if something goes wrong while applying the update, then what? You have to contact Joe and deal with fixing things.

This is incorrect... Joe at ZAutomotive says if you have a PC then ok to not unmarry... BUT if you are going to update the Tazer firmware with a MAC, you need to unmarry before you update the firmware.

Reality is best bet is to always unmarry regardless of doing the update with a PC or Mac..

It’s not incorrect. You do not *need to unmarry* to update the taxer firmware. I agree it’s recommended if using a Mac.
