Hey all,

Installed a new OEM soft top on my JLU yesterday and COULD NOT get the front latches to connect, had a good 1/2 inch of open roof. I ended up leaving it overnight and then let it bake in the sun today and I was able to get finally get it latched with a little man handling. Is this connection with the windshield correct?

Wrong latches?

Yes the material has to warm up in order to get it properly closed and latched. A lil sunshine helps.

Yep, first install takes a lot of stretching to get it latched first time. I went thru that last spring.

The top just needs to stretch. You did it right by baking it in the sunshine first.

I usually heat up the areas I am trying to stretch with a hot blow dryer for a few minutes.

I installed my new soft top. My right latch popped open while driving. My left latch pops open as soon as I close it. The company where I bought the top is sending new latches. I hope this solves the problem.

Don't forget latches and latch hook are adjustable as well. If leaving it out in sun doesn't stretch it enough or if you get latches popping try adjusting them. It doesn't need to be a fight to get them closed. should just be enough tension to keep them latched and no separation of the top from the header.

When installing mine each spring, I latch the windshield buckles before installing the 3 rear windows.
