About two weeks ago I got rear ended at a dead stop. Frame in the back is bent, the appraiser finally came out and said $9800 is his estimate. Anybody want to chime in what this will probably be at. I know there will probably be other issues. Just wanted to know you guys or girls think...im trying to post pics but I'm not to good at this technology thing...lol

i got into an accident a few months ago as well, little more than getting rear ended but the first appraisal was $6,000 and then the second one a month later was $13,000, and then $29,000 a little later and eventually a week ago it was totaled. Not saying yours is totaled lol but expect more appraisals and different costs to fix. Hope it’s a quick process for you!

With the cost of parts and repairs these days, anything has a good chance of getting totaled.

Good luck.

the frames are rather cheap to be honest. labor is crazy high these days. things to look out for is the body mount areas if the frame is bent at the body mount area ill guess it will be a bitch to line it all back up, but you never know these days

I was rear ended in February body shop just told the insurance company to total it. Frame was bent on both sides both quarter panels collapsed. 10k to replace the frame seems lite.

You’ll also want to be compensated for the loss in value fir your jeep. When you sell it, it will take a huge hit in value from this.

New frame is around $5,000 and labor add on another $10,000.

It's getting a new frame?! I thought if there was frame damage it's an immediate total loss?
Nope, Jeeps have a type of frame which can be more easily replaced than a typical car. Only costs $5k for a new frame and $10k of labor. Insurance won't total the vehicle unless its like 75% of the value to repair it. My brand new jeep had $30k plus of damage and a needed new frame and they still wern't going to total it because it was worth $63k

If you have rental coverage that might tip the scale. Rentals cars are crazy expensive right now.

Do you have an alternate vehicle to drive or is this your only transportation? If you have an alternate, I’d recommend using people’s advise to try and get it totaled. You need the alternate vehicle because it might be a while before you can get a replacement.
If you can’t get it totaled, you still end up with a much better repair job. My shop was happy to ring up the bill as high as they could using OEM only parts. Insurance adjuster still fixed it because apparently my car had appreciated since I bought it and become a collector item. Only beef from Carmax when I sold it was visible clamp marks inside the trunk from the weld job and they knocked $1k off their offer.
If you don’t have another vehicle to drive, you might have to decide to keep it so you’re not stuck buying something you don’t want while you wait for inventory to recover or a custom order to arrive.
