What system do you have on your truck? I just bought a long bed crew cab Ram. It has a rear view camera but it doesn’t work well and I’d love to have better coverage. It’s like driving a bus.
My 2019 F350 Lariat came with rear side and back up camera system... it is amazing the clearity and things i can see when backing or pulling into tight locations. Can turn on lights on the mirrors whe us dark too... it does not have the GM invisable trailer that utilizes the trailer cameras thou.

Again Im looking for ideas for cam system to put on my Jeep... just cuz sometimes I like seeing what my spotter is seeing!

Sorry. I misunderstood thinking you had installed your own system on your truck.

I have the Tazer JL camera which integrates to the Uconnect. It works ok but the quality is not sharp because of the Uconnect system limitations for the “cargo” cam connection. I had a problem, though, due to a Uconnect software update. My camera stopped working. Long story short, I took the camera off the Uconnect screen and bought a cheapo LCD from Amazon and connected it. I’m just going to use it offroad, so I’m not permanently mounting it for now, just using a Ram Mounts mount when I need it.

The Tazer camera system is way overpriced if you ARE NOT going to use the Uconnect system as the head unit. There are a lot of cheap options on Amazon. You could mount multiple cameras on your Jeep. The LCD I have comes with two inputs, others have more. You can get creative and get a solution you are looking for without breaking the bank.

Would it be possible to use something like a 2 way RCA switch wired to the aux buttons to active, should you want to pop on the front camera?

Something like this.
https://www.qualitymobilevideo.com/avs210.html

Power the front camera 12v with the Aux button. When you turn it on, then it will automatically switch to that input and would be HD like the back camera since it uses the same input.
Seems like a good Idea

It would be cool to have different camera's Available with the flip of a switch.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread - I just added Gladiator grill mesh to my JL. I have a Tazer Mini that can activate the cargo camera function for my 8.4 Uconnect. If I just buy a Gladiator camera from Mopar Parts, will it (a) work if I use the Tazer, and (b) require anything besides whatever comes with the ordered camera?

I know Zautomotive sells their own camera for the JL grill mesh and they also sell an AV-type cord. I didn’t know if I’d need something like that cord or if the Mopar product would come with everything needed. Thoughts?

(a) no. the factory Gladiator camera is a high definition digital camera. It can only be interfaced into a device expecting a digital input. Now, there is an adapter available that can convert the digital signal to analog, and that would be compatible with the cargo cam input on the 8.4 with the (b) tazer and their radio harness adapter. Note: this solution would still be limited by the same low resolution input that the tazer camera uses so it will probably not net any better clarity than their solution.

Does the Gladiator have a different head unit than Wrangler with the upgraded stereo system?

That's interesting... They are different part numbers.

The 2018 Wrangler uses 68295725AH
The 2020 Wrangler uses 68429173AB
The 2020 Gladiator uses 68417861AK

I wonder if these are just different software loads. They all appear to be the same hardware.
