There’s another trip to the tire store tomorrow to take a look at the Mickey’s AT’s.

the 9” width makes good sense, less weight and mass.
Good stuff!

wondering if I will regret having "mudder tires" when the pavement is wet, snowed on, or frosty? Or just simply slow down and take it easy, which is always a good plan......
I went with Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ P3s, because I couldn't get any of my top three picks at the time. I was really afraid they would be worthless, but the first time I got a chance to really try them out in crap weather, I went right around a snow plow that had gotten stuck halfway up the mountain. I ran the whole trail on those things, and never came close to getting stuck in up to a foot of snow. I later tried them out on a sheet of glaze ice, and on ice covered with snow on untreated roads.

Are there better handling tires that would have done all this stuff more easily? I'm sure there are, but these things got me through all that. My Jeep can go anywhere, plus it's exceptionally awesome at ripping through mud, and there is a lot of mud in them thar hills.

I was really worried about the trade-off, based on reading hundreds of reviews that basically said mud tires are bad on white stuff, mmmm'kay? Maybe they are kind of bad, but they're not bad enough to actually create a problem for me as a guy who grew up driving bias ply recaps on a rear wheel drive coupe that weighed 5,000 lbs. Compared to THAT miserable turd, the Jeep on these Mickey Thompson mud luggers is a mountain goat.

I’m running the Falken AT3W as well. They’ve been great in snow this far. I do have some experience with them in muddy situations and they performed just fine. It would have been a much harder choice if the new MT ATZ had been out when I bought the Falkens. The MT’s have been getting really good reviews. So can’t go wrong with them for sure.
