Just curious. I have a '23 JL two door with the 3.6. Recently had a CEL throwing a P0456 Code for a very small EVAP leak. Took it to dealer as it was still under warranty. When I took delivery, I had removed the factory gas cap and added a keyed Mopar cap because I live in a city near a college and drunk college kids are idiots. The dealer replaced the ESIM, I believe, but also said I needed a new gas cap. They then showed me the cracked o-ring on my keyed Mopar cap and provided me a new cap. I noticed that the new cap had a different color o-ring than both the original factory gas cap (which I still have) and the keyed Mopar cap. That led me to wonder whether many people had a problem with their gas caps leading to a change in the o-ring. So, long way to aska short question. Have others had problems with their gas caps? Oh, and by the way, I ended up changing the o-ring from the original factory cap over to my keyed cap so I could still use it.

I went from an 2019 keyless gas cap to a new key version ladt year. I discovered te new key version has a different o-ring as well. Don't have the leak any more and very happy.

I’ve been using their weapon keyed Mopar cap headed on 4 years now with whatever o-ring that came with it. Never had a code so I hope I haven’t jinxed myself reading this….

PS - I epically love the Mopar keyed cap.

@Morrepe

Even with the recommended fuel filler cap with a gasket that has not aged out, you can still see P0456 EVAP Leak issues.

Reality is you can even see P0456 with a brand new fuel filler cap you install, if the fuel filler neck opening has a film/yuck, bits of sand and dirt on it..

To minimize this issue / to not see it at all, it is prudent to set up a maintenance routine in regard to the vehicles fuel filler neck opening, fuel filler cap threads and fuel cap gasket itself. Yes, maintenance even when running an older or newly installed fuel filler cap.

Routinely... say once a month, clean the fuel filler neck opening with WD40. Spray WD40 on a small piece of cloth towel and then aggressively/firmly rub the opening of the fuel filler neck.

Also, spray WD40 on the fuel filler cap threads and clean them up well. Then, spray WD40 on the fuel filler cap o-ring to clean it.

After spraying the o-ring, gently wipe dry and then to the o-ring apply a very very light coat of silicone grease.

Doing the aforementioned only takes a few minutes each month but is well worth the time doing so.

Side note hint: When fueling your vehicle, when the gas pumps handle clicks off, do not grab the handle and keep pulling the handle to add more fuel.. You are asking for big trouble doing so.. Internet research if you think otherwise..

I bought this locking fuel door from Ext Terrain, the Bedrock, $90, it was a little loose when installed, I popped it out and put some JB Weld around the snap tabs...good now.

Yes. This. Heed the warning! lol. Also another tip to add to this is to not just leave the nozzle in the filler neck and let ‘er eat. I could see that also putting a strain on the neck and causing a potential evap code somewhere down the road.
