Hi
For those with custom sound system, I'm curious to know if/what mid-bass speaker you put in the kick panel. I already have the 6.5" Metra box with a 2 way speaker, but I want to do a real 3 way components set. SQL setup.

I was looking at DS18 PRO-CF6.4NR 6.5 as they are waterproof and parameters seems great but can't find reviews.

Also, if I put 2 other 6.5" midbass in the soundbar, will it f* the "front stage" ? It's not really behind but above our head...

I have 1250w rms to feed them

I’m about to install the Pro-CF6.4 in my doors. I also have the JP6NEOs in my knee panels. As far as I can tell I don’t expect big impact on your front stage highs if you have good dash speakers (I am also using ds18 there, ZXI3.5). My soundbar is 4x PRO-ZT8s.m, my subs are 10” IXL.4D.

previously I was mixing kicker speakers with ds18 and switching to all-ds18 has made it come together nicely.

I played around quickly with the drivers in WinISD and got the below transfer functions.

They did not provide enough of the thiele small data on the neo 6.5" so the blue line is the ferrite version of the speaker. The red line is the 8" neo that the manual download link brings up for some reason. That line shows it in the same ~175in^3 Metra pods, but if you enlarge the enclosure the 8" data gets really close to the 6.5" ferrite line, so I am going to assume that the 6.5" neo will look damn near the same as the ferrite.

As you can tell you are going to get some extra volume around 200Hz and dropping off pretty quickly. It does not look like these will dig into the lower range well, and DS18 even notes to set crossover to 100Hz. The SPL graph (not attached) showed that with 100W it would max out around 112DB, and 300W capping at 116DB.

If you are going to add a bunch of speakers right behind your head and want to maintain some semblance of a front stage, definitely get a DSP.

I ran 3 way Morel Maximo Ultra speakers in my Shelby GT350 with a DSR1 DSP and those speakers were incredible.
I’d go that route. Don’t go cheap on a 3 way otherwise just get a good $200 component 2 way.

A 8" can fit with trimming in the Metra pods ? Peak at 230hz seem kinda high. I'm not too sure what to do with the sound bar yet. And I do have a dsp, ds18 4.8 dsp, for the price it's pretty great.

I currently have 3 way in the soundbar and 2 way in the kick panel and top dash, but I don't like that I can't adjust the high/mid/low, that's why I want to go with a real 3 way components. I currently have my friend 3D printing a new grill for the top dash speaker to have a 3.5" and a tweeter.
And I'm into metal music, so I need midbass that can hit fast

No, they will not fit. I just had to use the 8" data since the manual link on the 6.5" opens up the 8" specs. Just trying to interpolate the data between what was available. The blue line should work just fine for both magnet materials for the 6.5" drivers.

Have fun with the DSP, I just got a B2 SixTen that I need to install in my Durango.
