Not quite as safe as jack stands.
:CWL: :CWL: :CWL: I love how the guy is leaning on one of the posts, so he can really get his back into his welding next to the gas tank.

I mean, maybe it's a real photo. When I was a kid, my catalytic converter rusted out and failed inspection. I went to a u-pull junk yard on like Monday and asked for a price on a cat. The guy quoted me one. I went back on like a Wednesday with better tools, and secured myself a cat. In order to get it out, I went around and scrounged bumper jacks out of about six different trunks, then used all of them under the rocker panel. I'm ashamed to say I was stupid enough to go under there and cut out the cat.

I proudly thumped my hard-won trophy on the counter, and the counter man was like, "Who told you that you could take that? I can't let you have a used cat. That's against the law!"

I guess the original counter man was just going to pocket the $20 or whatever.

Anyway, I carefully repaired the hole in the cat with JB Weld, and I mixed exhaust rust into a skim coat on top, to make it look believable. Those were the days. I just did some figuring, and I was making about $70 a week back then. Holy crap, there's no way I could afford to put gas in a 305 V8 on $70 a week today!
