I'm getting a flag holder for the back of my Jeep, and planning to use it on special occasions like convoys, parades, etc. So, when I'm buying a flagpole, are there special ones for vehicles or do I just get a (wooden?) flag pole like I would put on my house?

(I'm planning to mount the flag holder on the passenger side of the tailgate and to use it for the USA flag. Please correct me if this is an incorrect/improper location.)

I don't have a flag holder on my JLU, but on my old KJ I just zip-tied a PVC pipe between the spare and the tailgate and it worked like a charm

I personally have this:

Purchased an extra mounting stud and have one stud installed on front (passenger side) bumper and other on my Rhino-Rack Pioneer platform on top of my Jeep for mounting windsocks wind direction indicator for paragliding landing. Can withstand pretty good driving speed without breaking...

And this is a second similar product:

Were on the same track. Just bought this one. It has plenty of room to clear the spare. A bonus umbrella mount!

Now I just need Chivas Scotch bag for the parts.

" planning to use it on special occasions like convoys, parades, etc." Update. I used metal 1 1/4" EMT for a Flag pole. It's OD is real close to 1 1/2", same as Market Umbrella. The rest of my cutoff will go to umbrella duty and with an EMT 1 1/4 coupler mate to that pole. Flag pole length dictated by garage door clearance in case I forget. Used vacuum seal caps on eyebolt threads to keep the sharp edges from tearing the Flag. EMT $30, coupler $4 - 5. Got a small organiser from Ace for the misc hardware.

When displaying the American flag on a vehicle, it should be on the right side of the car, with the stars in the upper left corner. If you fly two flags, you can put one on each side of the car.
