Fitting a 35 spare on rubicon vs standard

I know that there’s no problem fitting a 315 or 35 on the back of a rubicon.

But sports and saharas it is different

here’s my question: Is this because the bumper spacing/opening for the spare is larger on the rubicon or is the tire carrier itself just positioned higher than it is on the sports?

The problem isn’t what you don’t know….. it’s what you know, that isn’t so. Rubi with Steel bumper requires relocation, conflicting reports with plastic, no- rubs but works- removed step pad- heated plastic and bent down- there are threads. ? Have steel, required relocation with 34.5in “35’s”.

Excellent— more conflicting reports. Typical results as stated. Reason for occasional variations unknown and questioned on threads. Maybe a 2 dr’s bumper is mounted a bit lower ? Mine wasn’t close and Duratracs are slightly larger than my Toyo’s per specs (4dr) ??‍ XR wouldn’t have relocation if not needed. ?

2022. 4 door JLUR with 35x12.5”-17. I just changed tire/wheels from stock yesterday. Spare just sits fine on back with zero adjustments. Didn’t touch or change a thing. Steel OEM bumpers with Jeep reinforcement hinge.

Jeep builds certainly are Consistent some do- some don’t, amazing. They obviously know it, per the XR relocation. Oh well, I don’t have steering, wander, or any other common reported problems, spare relocation is a small price. ?

315/70R17 BFG KO2s just barely fit with the steel bumper and Rubicon carrier. BFGs run small. Any larger and I'd need to address it. There's a tiny bit of rubbing on the plastic center piece on the bumper. I think I'll be fine after the first rotation and some tire wear.

My AEV Borah wheel may have some impact with the +25 offset and a wheel with more offset might not rub at all.
