Same.

They definitely have a unique design while the standard ones appear rather generic.

I got the optional wheels, I assume it’s only cosmetic I would have liked to save the $1000 but I fell in love with them during the launch.

Same could be said with any vehicle and on the Sahara and Sport models alone for the Standard vs. Optional wheels.

I think the upgrade rims look better with some colours, but not others.

Makes no sense that they should cost $900 more. It should just be a free option.

I guess I’m in the minority. I really like the upgraded wheels. Stock are cool, too, but remind me too much of the Matchbox Cars I had as a kid.

That's makes them cooler. Lmmfao

With the other trims you get upgraded tires so there is a difference.

Well, it's all a matter of opinion, same as a color. I love the optional wheels. The more I looked at the pics from New Zealand, the more I loved them. The 2 door Firecracker Red JL profile pic that was among the very first released just burned them into my mind. I think they look amazing. Oh well, each to his own, right? I wish they were standard and the standard ones were optional. I'd have saved some money.

Well, that's where that old pesky capitalism comes in. The good news is that the base Rubi wheels do look good, so nobody really has to spend the extra money. I did because I just REALLY like the optional wheels, especially with Firecracker Red.

Not too shabby with granite, either! Here’s how the configurator rendered my build:

Edit: Corrected my screenshot. I got black fender flares.

Looks like ours came out slightly different...
Hard top vs. soft. Otherwise identical? Mine’s a manual.

I like your taste. ;)

Edit: I see your steel bumpers. I’m strongly debating whether or not to amend my order to add them, especially since others have pointed out how aftermarket may be a PITA with safety group sensors. Hmm.

You have good taste, but I am going with the Steel Bumpers. :):like::rock:

Any concern with rust? I guess it’s no more likely that steel bumpers will rust faster than the mounts on plastics ones...

Eff it. Gonna contact my dealer to see if he can change my order. :)

Back to the topic of JL wheels. I see that both the Rubicon and the Sport S have 17 X 7.5 inch rims. I don't like the rims on the Sport S. Would the Rubicon rims (not tires) fit properly without modification on my JL Sport S?

I talked to the Tirerack people yesterday and they told me info that causes me to wonder how can a 285 width Rubicon tire sit on a 7.5 inch wide wheel? They also said if I bought a new JL wheel from Mopar's new catalog with the 8.5 inch wide rim, my tire would need to be at least a 265. I'm confused.

Capitalism gives you the choice. Sometimes it's not about cost to produce....sometimes it's about how much do I WANT that beautiful optional rim. If I were buying a Ruby, I'd pay for the optional rim in a heartbeat and the marketing people know it.

The upgraded wheels don't look bad though I prefer the standard ones.
