Just posting bc I couldn’t believe how well my recent highway trip went in my JLUR. I have to admit I was a little nervous about doing 10 hours of highway driving in it but was blown away with how well it handled. No issues with ride, steering, or discomfort. Most of you probably aren’t surprised, but as a newer Jeep owner I wondered how it’s road manners would fare on a longer trip.

This is great to here. I have not purchase nor ordered mine yet and this is a concern that I have had. Thanks for sharing the info. What motor and mpg did you see on your trip?

Same.
I had heard some comments about the JLU not being ideal for highway (motorway) miles, but my new JLU is a joy to drive. I am really pleased with it on all roads. Mine is not a Rubicon - its a UK spec Overland (which is basically a Sahara with quite a few additional options added).

I took a 6 hour highway trip on Friday and HATED it! But it was my first drive in a brand new Jeep, stressed about New York City rush hour driving wasn't fun! As far as road manners it's fine. 80mph with high winds and did fine, obviously not as quiet and compliant as a more aero shaped car or SUV. Got about 18mpg in new 2.0 however I've gotten about 21mpg with my 2018 v6 at slower highway speeds.

I have the 2.0, hovered just above 20 mpg most of the time doing around 75 mph. Most of my trip was flat but I did have some pretty big altitude changes in south TN.

I took my JLUR on a family trip from CT to Montreal winter of 2019 (300ish miles) and it was a great ride there and back. Very comfortable and powered through the storm on the way back without a problem.

It's never going to be a luxury SUV type ride, but it is definitely more comfortable than some may think.

Funny you say that. I also took a 10 hour road trip (from LA, CA to SLC, UT) in my 2021 JLUR last week and it was a much more comfortable trip than I expected! The high and upright seats don’t tire my back as much as the lower sporty seats of sedans where you’re basically laying down inside the car. There were also severe winds but the jeep handled really well with minimal swaying.

We did a ~5000 mile circuitous national park trip a couple summers ago in our 2018 JLUR 3.6L 6MT. WA, ID, MT, SD, WY, CO, UT, NV, OR, WA. 2 adults, 3 teens, back and roof full o'gear.

Definitely much more road trip friendly than we expected. Fair bit of wind buffeting of course, and I suspect we averaged under 18 MPG's for the trip.

Would not hesitate to go do that again RIGHT NOW! :like:

Here's near the front end of the adventure when our poor timing had us visiting closed airplane museums :(
