  1. Just got my first Jeep - lots of things to consider for my needs.

I has my Jeep for 2 years and a couple of months ago got rid of it. Worst decision I ever made as I really miss it. As I am looking for my next car, nothing really compares or interests me. Main reason for getting rid of it was the draconian UK tax laws for diesel cars and emmissions. MPG was...
  2. Auxiliary (AUX) Switches Configuration/Installation DIY

Argh, I asked my dealer if they could get some Mopar Aux switches. They can... now found out they don't work with diesel engines. Does anyone know why the MOPAR electrical aux switches would be incompatible with a diesel engine? Baffles me. Would this be the same for any switch bank - i.e.not...
  3. First Highway Trip - LOVED it

Same. I had heard some comments about the JLU not being ideal for highway (motorway) miles, but my new JLU is a joy to drive. I am really pleased with it on all roads. Mine is not a Rubicon - its a UK spec Overland (which is basically a Sahara with quite a few additional options added).
  4. Has anybody ever regretted buying a Wrangler?

Early days for me. My Wrangler is my daily driver. I love it. It's odd people say it's not great as a daily driver, but I find it very comfortable on pretty much any road as long as it's being driven sensibly - i.e. not speeding or tearing around corners. Cruising along at 60-70 on the...
  5. Hard Copy of Owner’s Manual

Picked up a JLU this week and it came with the owners manual in a green Jeep bag.
  6. Gas mileage

Early few drives in my JLU and I am getting 37mpg (UK) (31 mpg US) - non-motorway driving - mix of country roads and town driving for short spells. It will easily get 40+ (34+ mpg US) on the motorway at 60mph. I think the computer is still working out the range prediction - when I topped up it...
  7. Just got my first Jeep - lots of things to consider for my needs.

Picked up the Jeep today - she's a beauty. Drives so much more refined than I was expecting. Also has some features, like front parking sensors, that I was unaware was part of the spec. ...and just took it for a 20 mile spin around town, country roads and A Roads - averaged 37mpg which is way...
  8. New product - ARB BASE rack system

Ah, ok... thanks for that. I kinda like the old one then :)
  9. New product - ARB BASE rack system

The 72-inch rack also fits the JLU - though the one I am seeing in the UK looks a lot different to the pictures above: ARB Roof Rack Kit, Steel, JLU (3813030KJL) | Jeepey - Jeep parts, spares and accessories It's gone to the top of my list of racks ahead of the Rhino-Rack and the Front Runner...
  10. Just got my first Jeep - lots of things to consider for my needs.

Thank you. I don't intend to add any lockers. I just don't see the need in the UK and for my use. Maybe I am wrong. I really like the idea of the front and back hitches - so am looking into them. From some advice above I could attach a winch to either front or back when needed (on rare...
  11. Just got my first Jeep - lots of things to consider for my needs.

My dealer sent me through a full video walk-around of my Jeep awaiting pick up and I had a close look at the side and front angles in terms of the look of the tyres. Honestly, I would not want to go much bigger diameter than stock - I think the proportions look perfect. Obviously, a lift would...
  12. Just got my first Jeep - lots of things to consider for my needs.

That's a great idea - hitch mounts front and back and then just attach the winch when necessary. Like it.
  13. Just got my first Jeep - lots of things to consider for my needs.

Thanks, Yes, there is a Rubicon variant in the UK, but plastic bumpers only. The steel bumper can not be added. Now there are a lot of UK Wrangler owners who add steel bumpers because the laws/rules are not quite as clear as they perhaps should be on the subject and insurers will still...
  14. Just got my first Jeep - lots of things to consider for my needs.

Pretty much - tyres will be the only change and going bigger than the 32's already on the Jeep is not a real priority. I might go wider just for looks, who knows, but not to the point were the RPMs per mile are affected in any significant way. That's something I need to learn more about though...
  15. Just got my first Jeep - lots of things to consider for my needs.

A Caterham! Nice. Love it. Yeah - not that many Wranglers here in the UK, but there are still some decent groups it seems. Jeep run some events too, but you are right, don't often drive past Wranglers. When it does happen, it will make it more unique!
  16. Just got my first Jeep - lots of things to consider for my needs.

A winch is probably going to be difficult in the UK. I know many have them here, but swapping out to a metal bumper is a risk. It's not strictly legal here for on-road vehicles. It's a bit of a grey area in truth and something I need to look more into at some point as I would eventually like...
  17. Just got my first Jeep - lots of things to consider for my needs.

@Sgt Beavis That's a beautiful location and a great looking set up. There will only be two of us so will definitely be in something smaller. Yes, i am aware of the weight requirements and the back bone systems - been looking at the rhino-rack backbone and also the Front-Runner extreme. I like...
  18. Just got my first Jeep - lots of things to consider for my needs.

@MyDaughters20JL Thanks for the pics of the tyres and the info - didn't realise I could go larger without a lift. I'd heard about potential rubbing and want to avoid that. I'd also heard that the mph reading could get skewed and have to be recalibrated for larger tyres. Viewing my astro...
  19. Just got my first Jeep - lots of things to consider for my needs.

Hey, thanks. I'm really looking forward to picking up the Jeep... already coming to realise its a lot more than just a normal car. The whole community around the Wrangler seems great. My first trip is being planned for the Scottish Highlands - I'll post about it in this forum and probably...
