There is a rubber grommet under the passenger footwell carpet on a 2018 JL Wrangler Sport Unlimited.
I used it to run a positive wire from the battery, to a 15AMP fuse I mounted in the engine compartment by the PDC, then into the passenger cabin though this footwell grommet.
From there, I ran my wire along the footboard trim, to the right side rear passenger seat, under which I mounted a Sound Ordnance subwoofer. There's a ground right there by the right rear passenger seat.
I would say easy-peasy, but all the other "solutions" I've found on this site are... well, nuts. Maybe they work in your JL. They sure as heck did not on mine!
This passenger side footwell procedure is far better and easier than trying to push through the driver's side grommet, or lord help us, pulling the PDC in hopes of finding a hole through the firewall below the auxiliary battery.
How to:
.
Simply drop your wire (inside flex conduit or taped up), to the right of the PDC (toward the center of the engine, not on the outside). It's a straight shot down to the ground.
Under the vehicle, which you can easily get below, find your wire and run it (inside your conduit) next to the electric wires already there! I used a couple zip ties to attach my new wire to the one already there, and also taped them together. Please note that your wire MAY drop behind the wheel well cover, but it's easy find and move without pulling pins or cutting anything.
Inside the cabin, pull back the carpet in the passenger side footwell. You'll find a rubber plug (about 2" x 3/4") a few inches in front of the passenger seat. Remove it, then pull your wire up through the hole. Drill a hole (`1/2" in my case, which was tight enough to "screw" the conduit into it, providing a tight seal) through the grommet, and pull your wire and conduit through.
Kids, that's it. Here are a couple pictures.
Here's my wire, inside its plastic conduit, and highlighted blue, that's been dropped through the engine, next to the PDC. At upper left, you can see the catalytic converter, which of course you want to avoid touching!
Here is the conduit (again, highlighted blue), coming up through the passenger floor grommet opening. The removed grommet is to the right of the wire. Just drill a hole through one of the dimples, and push your wire and conduit through it).
This took four days of false starts before I lucked into this grommet. Hope it saves y'all some time!
