Could be a solution for some applications. Just make sure the wire is fuse-protected and well armored. The insulation could rub on the edge of the floor sheet metal and wear through, causing a short and fire if not.
Precisely. Fused, and wrapped to wire already running along this pathway.

Can you point out where the ground stud is by the right rear passenger seat? When we wired my arb under the right front see and through to the front firewall we were surprised we couldn’t find a grounding stud cabin side of the firewall.
yes, you need to remove the trim. Easiest to start on the carpet side. That I ne’s easy —the front seat door trim, however… yuck!

If you have a manual, the double-walled grommet on the passenger side (I believe) is the only true firewall option. There’s actually a lot of room to run things, you just have to be good with your hands and not require an easy button :)
I didn’t like running wire across the engine, through that grommet, and back across the cabin to get to the passenger side, where my woofer had to be placed. Plus I seriously don’t like suspending wires around the clutch/brake/gas pedals.

im not a fan of having the drain plug out just for the ease of installing a battery wire to a sub. it would be worth the extra 20 mins to run it through the firewall grommet up away from the water that the drain plug will see getting into the carpet etc. but again everyone has their own preference
That’s why the wire is enclosed in conduit and literally screwed into the hole I put in that plug. My carpet is always dirty anyway. Georgia mountain clay. ?

Floor drain plug, some use it some don't. If it works for you go for it.
Yeah, the other options seemed far more iffy and prone to accidental wire tears. This way, I’m Acord — either in conduit or under the door trim — the whole way. I appreciate some concern about the drain aspect, but the grommet still can be RE over for that function. It othing’s gonna back up into the compartment if the conduit fit is tight.
of course, the best solotion would be a factory firewall pass through by the PDC. The JL has some nice features, but it’s not made for mods like the JKs. In my rarely humble opinion!
