Hey guys, I broke one of my factory flares on my JL, and I found a set of Deegan 38 tubular flares super cheap on Extreme Terrain. These flares have 3 LED marker lights on them. With the location of these lights, would it be legal to use them as turn signals, or would I need to add in a standalone turn signal light on the front?

Thanks

It's hard to tell from the picture but it depends on whether the light is visible to the front. If not, then it's not legal in California. Other states laws are probably the same in this regard.

The Ohio law on this confuses me a bit.

I can't tell if it says from the front, rear, and side, or if it is saying from the front, viewed from the direction you are turning. If it's directly center front I doubt you could see them, but if it's from the front from the side you are turning you may be able to.

I can' t say for sure if they would be legal, but I would be willing to bet you will get pulled over at least a few times if you install them as is. Not sure if it would be worth it.

Maybe I'll toss a little led on the front and just make them all turn signals. Anybody have placement area ideas?

The Ohio statute you posted is not ambiguous. The light has to be visible "to the front" and visible to 300 feet in daylight.

I know you only need one but have a set of lo-line textured flares available. Includes indicator lights. $100. I’m in Tampa FL.
