I noticed a few oil spots under the 2018 JL 3.6L today. When I crawled under I noticed the FAD and associated skid plate as well as the upper control arm and a few other areas covered in oil. It appears that this is coming from above. I see a couple potential leaks above the FAD (boxed in red n the last picture), but they don't look big enough to make this much of a mess, I do know a little oil goes a long way.

The engine oil is full and I've never needed to add oil in the nearly 52k miles and 5+ years I've driven it. I'm thinking it has been a slow leak and just got to the point that it's started to drip. I'm going to monitor the situation but if anyone has any input I would greatly appreciate it.

How nice of your jeep to provide anti rust lube to your axle:LOL:

That definitely looks like it's coming from up above and could be a slow enough leak that over the past 50k miles you didn't need to add oil into it.

If you're still under the 60k, or 5yr warranty for drivetrain I'd have the dealer take a gander and see what they find. Unless you try to put a camera up there and check the valve cover gasket. My 2.0 is leaking somewhere on the passenger side of the block but all the dealer did for my was throw some dye into it and tell me to go back in 1k miles.

Other thing in my mind would be the oil cooler, not sure where it is on the 3.6 but it's worth looking for imo.

Thanks for the reply Gabriel. I'm just barely beyond the 5yr Jeep warranty, but the dealer I purchased from had a lifetime powertrain warranty. I'm going to let it slide, keep an eye on it, and bring it back to the dealer if it gets to a point that I need to do something.

I know old thread, but from my research and friend with a 2017 Rubicon, the plastic oil filler/filter housing/oil cooler on top of the 3.6L is infamous for cracking and leaking starting as soon as around 50k. Aluminum Dorman replacement for engine oil filter and cooler mount. Did you ever find the cause and get the leaking stopped?
