So I am getting pressure from all sides to get the mopar extended warrenty that extends the comprehensive from 60,000km to 100,000km (~38,00miles to 62,000 miles).

The thing is that it costs a pretty big penny. $4700 CAD for the extended warrenty (plus a bunch of stuff that I cannot seem to get rid of like car rental coverage, trip interruption coverage with hotel & meals....). If I'm willing to drop an extra $500 bringing the total for the extended warrenty to $4,200 CAD, I can prepay for a package of 11 services/maintenance checks with synthetic oil. The problem with that is I already have a trusted mechanic, and I've had zero dealings with the shop I'm buying from, so I don't trust them to have their grubby paws on my Jeep - I've read too many horror stories around here to make me not too keen on it.

So my question is this, has the extended warranty been worth it for anyone? Are there essential parts that are not covered by the factory drivetrain warrenty that would be an expensive pain to replace/fix?

I have a few people around me trying to pressure me into getting the extended warrenty, but I'm not all that keen on the value off what I get for the cost. Anyone able to convince me otherwise?

Hey, I've had my Jeep since February. FCA is still asking me to get an extended warranty.

After you've driven it for a few months, you'll know if you need it or not. If you end up with one that's in the shop constantly, probably. If it's trouble free, skip it and save your money.

You have plenty of time to decide and/or save up for it.

I should be able to get it for the same cost before my comprehensive factory warrenty is up, right?

I'm guessing so. I have about 8700 miles on mine. It may make it difficult to negotiate a lower price the more miles you rack up, but at the point you might need it, the price of the warranty will probably be less than the repair you'll need.

If you search you'll see that this is likely the most discussed topic on this forum. I'd start by reading the 1,000+ threads already on here. Luckily, nothing has changed.

BOTTOM LINE: No company ever stayed in business paying out more than they take in. It's as simple as that.

I went back-and-forth on this, until I recently got a Max Care extended warranty for 7/years/60,000 miles, $100 deductible. I paid US$1,200.

My Jeep is a 2018 Sahara with 15,000 miles; got the extended warranty right before the factory warranty ended.

I don’t see the value of paying almost CAD$5,000 for an extended warranty. I’d shop around.

Good luck.

Not sure about Canada but assuming it is the same 1 year or 12k miles can still buy one like it is brand new. After that it goes up a bit in price. I did one for about 1000 dollars, worth it to me basically brings drive train and bumper to bumper inline with each other.

4700 is way too much even in Canadian.

There's not that many threads around here discussing warranties. I searched. Maybe about 4 or 5 pages worth of results tops.

Edit: I also had some questions about what the comprehensive covers vs the drivetrain, as I haven't seen anything detailing that in any of the threads I saw.

There are sponsors on forums who will sell you mopar warranty, they are dealers here on the forum. Can search for them. You don't have to buy mopar from the purchase dealer can buy it from any of them so might want to walk on that. I just say no to purchasing dealer because they are taking advantage of the excitement of buying new Jeep and over priced.

I’m not sure about Canada pricing etc but search the forum we have quite a few seller in the US which might be able to hook you up with a price quote or possibly know someone that does extended warranties in Canada, from my understanding as each year goes by the premium goes up for the warranty plan, so if you purchase it in the first year of the vehicle manufacture warranty vs the last year of the 3 yr 36,000 miles, the plan will be cheaper, the mopar maxcare is a bumper to bumper plan,

Tom was the best quote I got back in spring of 22’ might want to get in touch with him and see what he might be able to do for ya

I bought the extended warranty when I bought the Jeep. Then I found out how crooked & inept the Jeep Dealer/Service network is. And now I wish I had that money back.

You're money ahead at the moment. I would suggest you stay that way.

I’m certainly not the most prolific poster on this subject, but I bet that I, personally, have posted five pages of responses on this subject.

Alternatively refer to the “bottom line” on my post. If you can determine how the offerers can make money while the customers also make out, you’ll get the Nobel Prize in Economics. Sorry to be flip, but the answer to your question seems painfully obvious.
