I received a letter from mopar/jeep about extended warranty, I called and talked to someone and he gave me a run down of the warranty. It seems like a good idea for what it covers and with my JL being a 1st Gen with the 2.0 turbo bsg and such I'm torn if I should do it. Has anyone bought the warranty and are you happy with it?

Extended Warranties, on average, are NOT worth the money. By definition, they can’t be. But that’s on average.

I did purchase one when I purchased my JL. Why? Because I have 7 years worth of doubts about the craptastic ESS and all the other electronics on the JL. Time will tell of the extended warranty will be worth it for me. i never purchased it on any other vehicle and did not need it. The FCA JL? Maybe.

That's what I'm somewhat concerned of as well, I already has an ess issue that just needed a software update apparently, I have to get my doors repainted due to corrosion on the hinges. Like you said with all the computer controlled stuff and the 3 batteries mine has. I feel like I should buy it.

I purchased the extended warrenty on my TJ for $1,700, used it once for a front axel replacement which costs $1,000, plus I had to yell and scream before they would cover it under warrenty.

Then I bought the extended warrenty on my FJ Cruiser for $2,500, never got to use it.

As everyone knows Consumer Reports is not a fan of extended warranties.

Sometimes think I should have got it for my 2L e Torque, only time will tell.

Aren’t they now money back guaranteed though? If you don’t use it, they send you back your money?

What the guy on the phone told me with the virus and the economy they are offering money back guarantee. So that's kinda worth it to me but I feel like there are stipulations somewhere. It can't be that easy

How much is it?
Is it transferable when you sell yours?

I know the 7/8 year 100k mopar one can be had for about $1700. If that helps your decision with guy on phone.
Also, it was money back pre-COVID.

It's $2150 and yes it's transferable. I also don't like how there is a $100 deductible if I have an issue

It's a great idea, but I feel like you'll only get your money's worth if you can get a 10 year+ or lifetime warranty. Either way, I think you're stuck with dealing with Chrysler dealers if you want warranty repairs from them?

Edit: Holy crap, only $1700? That's a deal! I wonder if it has a deductible or something.

My previous opinion was that if you were spending >$3k the only way you'd get your money's worth was if the engine broke or something. And Chrysler engines still usually last you until at least 100k lol. Even with the plastic valve covers and all the other cost cutting. At 1700 though, you're approaching the cost of a broken 8.4 uconnect, or those stupid sun shades.

I was only offered 7yr 60k for $2150. Yes you have to have repairs done at the dealership. My engine is the 2.0 turbo bsg so I'm not sure how long that will last with it being a brand new engine to jeep.
