Hi guys,

I just bought a JLU Rubicon 2020.

I have 3 days or so to cancel the Zurich warranty I bought, 10yrs/120K.
I am starting to think it was a mistake. I am not sure they are mod and offroad travel friendly.
Could use some counsel.

They are huge money makers but if you get peace of mind with it why not. That said you probably paid too much, there are quiet a few threads on this with links so you can compare price. You don't have to buy it through that dealer. Shop around, you have a whole year or 12,000miles till the price jumps up a little.

Get Geico, you automatically get 7years/100k if you buy a car 1 year /15k miles or less with your insurance

Well,

I did read reviews before I agreed.

https://www.consumeraffairs.com/insurance/zurich-north-america.html

Those are not bad.

Also Zurich are pretty well rated by BBB.

And I did read the fine print and even asked additional questions. Like "are the pressure sensors covered?" (I had bad problems with Grand Cherokee). The answer was "if it is not listed by name (it was not) it is covered".

I am still on the fence. I lean to retaining it. I might be wrong.

I like the Mopar Warranty because it's a factory warranty , parts and service should be good, network of dealers likewise. They have access to factory TSBs, recalls which will be up to date.
Other repair shops need paid access ( subscriptions) which might not reflect latest information. Plus, the Technicians should have the latest training for that brand, as opposed to a shop that doesn't have the required training, tools, bulletins. Diagnostics can be very expensive, and require more specialisation than in the past, which is why I would lean towards a factory Warranty. They " should" know the vehicle best..and give the best value.

The Zurich is 2700 but 10yrs 120K miles. It is throught the dealer.

Also to reply to Four Low, Dealer repair shop is a shop spcializing in Jeeps (and otherwise Chryslers).

Warranties are huge profit centers for the insurance companies. Saying that, FCA is at the very bottom of every reliability survey. The Factory Mopar Extended Warranty might be a decent deal IF purchased at a very deep discount if you want peace of mind. Personally I would cancel the Zurich and wait 1-2 months before the factory warranty expires to buy a Mopar warranty. You can decide if you need it then based on how often your JL needs warranty repairs. Or roll the couple of thousand you would have spent on a extended warranty into a new vehicle with another 36 month new car warranty.

Also, is the Warranty transferable, no cost, and refundable if vehicle is totalled, or you sell it before warranty expiration...
I'm going to wait until the 3/36 is almost over, and decide whether I'll keep it, or trade.
Competition from other manufacturers, economy, might see better warranty prices too.
Last, but not least, the purchased Warranty should be understood ; the time and mileage date from the in service date, so a 7/125 is actually 4/ 89 after the original 3/36 Bumper to Bumper expires..unless explicitly stated otherwise
