just bought a new to me 2020 jl 3.0 eco diesel with 23,120 miles…have had it for maybe 35 days.

Was coming back from the lake, it was about 117 degrees outside. All of a sudden when I tried to accelerate on a very minor incline I the service electronic throttle control, service electronic stability control and check engine light. Was in limp mode for about 20 minutes until I found a gas station to pull into. Turned the car off for a couple minutes and the ETC and ESC light turned off but the CEL stayed on.
I had no choice to but to limp back for 45 minutes as I was in the middle of nowhere with no phone reception. About 30 minutes into the drive back all the notifications came back, was in sever limp mode again any Jeep started to vibrate pretty badly.
Got home, let it sit over night and next morning I took it to oreillys to see what code popped up. Code p00af came up which was “turbo charger boost module performance”.
took it to the dealer this morning, they also got the same code, should be covered under warranty. Anybody here have similar issues? And if so, has there been a fix?

Sounds like an underboost or overboost condition, could be a bunch of different things.

Looks like this is a generic diesel turbo code.

From: https://www.carparts.com/blog/p00af...arger-boost-control-a-module-performance/amp/

"Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P00AF stands for “Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Control A Module Performance.” This error code is logged when the powertrain control module (PCM) detects a potential issue with the boost control module.

The “A” in this error code may refer to a potential issue in a certain portion of the system circuit instead of a specific component or symptom.

This code is often set in newer car vehicles (e.g., Cummins-powered trucks) equipped with variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) systems. In VGT systems, the PCM uses an actuator to control and monitor the turbocharger and the amount of boost it provides."

From: https://www.obd-codes.com/p00af

"This is a generic powertrain diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and typically applies to OBD-II vehicles. That may include but is not limited to vehicles from Chevy (Chevrolet), GMC (Duramax), Dodge, Ram (Cummins), Isuzu, Ford, Vauxhall, VW, etc. Although generic, the exact repair steps may vary depending on year, make, model and powertrain configuration."

I agree with the first reply; "Could be a bunch of different things". :)

Taking it to the dealer sounds like a good move. Hope you get a speedy, inexpensive solution.

Thank you, and yeah I hope so too. Everything I keep reading about those sensors seems like they never go away and are a constant problem. I’m hoping I’m not stuck with a lemon

Your welcome.

We bought a 2015 RAM 2500 Diesel Turbo that was the first year that had the DEF system.

On a trip that put us into limp mode, that we had never heard of, and which stranded us for a week, we learned that autos are now computers on 4 wheels; unfortunately.

The codes are written by programmer types and are sometimes meaningless to owners of the vehicle. Feel your pain.

In our case, it was some DEF computer module that needed to be replaced, which was under warranty, and maybe that will be the resolution in your case. At least you are at home. :)

Yeah, at least I am home. I owned a 3.6 Sahara several years ago, but decided to try a Nissan frontier and traded it in. The frontier has been amazing with zero issues, and can handle anything I throw at it. Have the truck to my wife and got myself this eco diesel which sounded awesome, I’m having buyers remorse with how quickly it causes me problems. ?

I'm just glad I did not visit any of the Jeep JL forums before we bought our 2020 JLUR 3.6.

There are a lot of reported issues on the forums, but knock on wood, our Jeep has been trouble free for 35K miles except for the need for frequent dual battery replacements...;)

Good luck.

Update:
Turbocharger went bad, they are ordering me a new one. But it is currently back ordered and have no ETA on when I would receive it. Incredibly frustrating, is the quality control at Jeep so bad that the turbochargers are blowing out so much that they are back ordered?

Curious, I had much of the same issues but no Turbo CEL pop up. Did you happen to have any jerking on acceleration?

I actually had the opposite, I had no peer as the turbo boost was out. It was covered under warranty but the turbo was supposed to take like 4-6 months to arrive. Until I went full Karen and contacted jeep, found the turbo myself paid for it and was reimbursed. Jeep customer service at its finest.
