I had a 2-door JLR ordered and got a call from the dealership today to tell me there is a "constraint" placed on my order. Apparently, I have to either add additional options to my previously confirmed order that already had a VIN number and had been scheduled, but wasn't yet in production, or I could just cancel the order. I also could not get the 4.88 gears in a 2-door, period. And I could only get 4.56 gears if I added the Recon package, which adds another $5000 worth of stuff I would just be replacing anyway. So, I drove over to the dealership tonight after work to talk about other possible ways to go. They have another 2-door JLR on their lot, which is pretty much what I wanted, but without the leather seats on my order. I ended up telling them to cancel my order. He told me the price I would pay for the other 2-door JLR, but then said, "before you buy it today, I just heard that Stellantis is likely to announce employee pricing on all vehicles, including Wranglers." He should know by tomorrow, so we are holding off on the purchase of the other JLR until Saturday.

Anyone else hear the same thing?

Yes, i saw a news clip somewhere about this but I wouldn't hold my breath. They may give msrp or slightly below on the Wrangler while increasing the price on other vehicles to make it look good. Could be a smoke and mirrors tactic based on recent events.

Maybe the employee discount isn’t all that great.

It isn't. He showed me the difference on their order paperwork from Stellantis on the Jeep I am buying. It is only an additional $1500 off. And they may do away with some of the current rebates at the same time. We'll see.

You're right. I saw what employee pricing was when I purchased mine and IIRC is was maybe 1% lower than what I was paying. Nice, but not monumental.

Also the employee pricing might only be on certain model years (say 25) and can't be added to the 10% discount on 24s. I found that when I bought my 24. You get the 10% or you get these other discounts or you get the low financing rate. I couldn't combine them.

It seems as though auto manufacturers have not been beat in the head enough. They will have to forego the obscene profits for them to start moving vehicles. This nickel and dime game isn’t cutting it. I suppose the beatings will continue until morale improves.
