Hey everyone, and thanks for your pictures and replies.

Unfortunately, here in Germany, running boards also need to be approved and inspected by the TÜV (German Technical Inspection Association).

Completely ridiculous, but that's how it is.

The ones from my link meet all the requirements. I think I'll get them. Thanks again, and best regards from Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

They'll probably work great :) I have some aries actiontrac ones on my jeep that I put on there in 2019 and they're still fine. They use a similar mechanism to the very popular rock slide engineering steps.

One thing worth mentioning is I think the side steps can actually make it harder to get in or out. Because the steps stick out further when open, it puts the seat further away!

I think if i had to do that all over again I'd probably explore one of the air suspensions that can lower the jeep instead.

That's a good point. You're right. I had that on my old Ruicon and I actually always slid across the seat when getting out.

I just purchased some AMP Research power steps because my body isn't aging as well as I would like. My Jeep came with fixed Westin step nerf bars. The step is too small to be useful and stepping over the nerf bar makes it harder to enter my Jeep.

A friend just bought a new pick up with AMP Research steps, and they work great. I really liked the wide surface. It felt very stable, and made entering his truck easy.

I really wanted Go Rhino E1 Eboards, but they are on back order with no firm date to restock. I then chose AMP Research because of their reputation.
Installation of the AMP Research steps is not going well. I ordered from Extreme Terrain, and what they sent was for my Jeep, but what was in the box was not. I called Extreme Terrain with a few questions, and sent pictures. They sent a new complete set, and want me to return the originals.

The replacements arrived and they are incorrect, too. Since installation instructions on their website is "404 page not found". I went to Real Truck, the "owner" of AMP Research.

I found installation instructions on RealTruck's website, dated 10.02.25, but they aren't current either. RealTruck did confirm that I had the incorrect parts, twice, and said they will ship me a third set. I guess RealTruck and Extreme Terrain will work out who pays what.

For those that plan on AMP Research steps, the latest design has the motor driven linkage mounted in the rear position, below the passenger door. Both linkages are the same, so the motor mounts on the front side of the linkage on the passenger side, and the back side of the linkage on the drivers side. Check out the parts when you open the box.

Both sets that Extreme Terrain sent came with wiring harnesses too short to reach the rear mounted motors and the motor interfered with a body mount on the driver's side. RealTruck customer support said there was a change to the wiring harness and motor mounting plates.

Extreme Terrain is at the mercy of the product quality sent to them by manufacturers, but their website issues and chat bots waiting to get a live operator is frustrating. They have been helpful when I get a live person, and willing to give a full refund if the third set doesn't work.

RealTruck customer service answers the phone quickly, and seems very knowledgeable of their product. I question their quality control. How installation instructions, updated early October are still wrong and product made late August and early September made it out of the factory.

Somewhere I read AMP Research are made in the good 'ol USA. The box says they are made in Mexico.

I hope to do a product review in the near future, but AMP Research products are on strike two. I'm a three strikes and your out type of person.
