I started putting a hole in their head and at the bottom, and slide them onto my antenna.

Mine just sort of stay there, they've wedged themselves between the windshield and dash.

What the what?!? Is this a regional thing? What's all this ducking about? Here in the NYC area, you might get a brick, but definitely not a duck.
The last time I was in NY was when a Marine that was on leave got shot in the back because of a fight between two street vendors. I`d take the brick over the bullet!

I did get a duck while at the Jeep Invasion in Wildwood NJ Just not sure who put it on my windshield cowl. Maybe this July at the Invasion I will get another ???
I still don`t know the story behind them

Ok, not really. I been in a wrangler since 2013 and never ducked yet. My wife drives the new JL this week and gets ducked. Im still looking for my first.

I put them in a bag and give them to my nephew. He's 4 years old and seems to enjoy them.

I’ve never been determined enough to take the wipers off and actually drop the windshield ?
Honestly... I don't know if it's really worth dropping the windshield in a JL. Don't get me wrong, I'll fight anyone who says it shouldn't drop (I might be old, but I'm wiry). But really.... how they have the sport cage remain in place around where the windshield would be, and over your head you don't get the same open air feeling that you got from a TJ when the windshield and doors were off. Those things it felt more driving a roller coaster cart than anything else. The JL you're still clearly "in" something and when laid on the hood the windshield sits so high that it makes driving offroad more difficult (you can completely remove the windshield with two more bolts, helps offroad a lot but even I don't like being without the windshield entirely).

My windshield goes down every summer, I really like how easy it is to drop compared to the JK. Sometime around about now I take the top and doors off and lower the windshield. As long as I'm staying below 40 - 45 mph the windshield stays down. If I need to jump on the highway I keep a cheap electric driver in the Jeep, I'll put the windshield up and run one bolt in to keep it there. I do think it's something you should do (assuming you buy the hold downs first), it's pretty unique with no other SUV or mainstream automobile offering this feature. But... it's not like it once was.

Doug Demuro recently reviewed the Smart Crossblade, and I think he gets the truly open feeling that car offers once he starts driving it and it looks very similar to how the TJ experience was. Yes it's silly and not practical, but in the right situations it is fun. I really wish that Jeep would have found a way to stay closer to the TJ's windshield down experience than the thing we have now.

This year will be my first. Thinking of doing Ocean City Jeep parade. Any opinions on either? Wildwood I'm not sure of. No interest in doing that sand/mud course. So what's there to do? How long can you park on beach before you are asked to leave? Thanks for any input.
Btw, had my jl for 3 months, live here in WW, still duckless lol.

I read your post about NYC and all I hear is " what's with all these ducks? Bricks yes, but ducks?"- in Seinfeld's voice.

That was exactly the voice in my head as I wrote it.

Hey, If you don`t want to drive on the beach it is free to attend, there are over 2500 Jeeps registered this year so you can see everything from A to Z and then some. All of the big name vendors are there too so you can get some great deals on everything from tires to interior parts. Alpine was actually installing new head units and speakers on customers Jeeps on the beach which was pretty cool. It is on the beach right next to the convention center and there is a huge parking lot that there are plenty of Jeeps parked at and again you can see anything from mild to wild.
So if you just want to walk around on the beach and watch people go through the obstacle course and check everything out it is free.
Any questions don`t hesitate to PM me
