Anyone with experience as how the 2.2 does dpf regen.
Have been monitoring soot percentage for a while, and is goes up to around 95% and then drops down again to around 20%.
I never see any slow decrease in soot lever while driving highway until it reach 95% and drops quick down again.
Almost looks like the 2.2 does not have passive regen or mine has some issues, it has reached 78000km with mixed driving style.

PS, recently had a second turbo change. They didn't flush the oil lines the first time ,hope that was the issue and not something else that will kill it again.

I’ve got a scan gauge on my 2.2 the only time I’ve seen it do a passive regen and it drop slightly is when going up hill while under heavy acceleration. Do you know what caused the first turbo failure ?

How do you monitor the soot level?
Since a few weeks I started to have problems with the DPF I constantly get a fault message about it (engine light, no message). The dealership does a forced regen which solves the problem for 2 weeks. I don’t get why I get problems with the DPF, i drive long distances and a lot of highway.
I have 110 000 kms with it, no problems with turbo so far and I hope it stays like that.
Other problems I previouly had:
-oil cooler
-faulty NOX sensor
-water leaking inside
-def system problems

I have an OBD bluetooth ELM connected to the obd port. Installed "OBD Fusion" on my phone, OBD Fusion supports Android Auto for displaying PIDS. So I monitor "Normalized trigger for DPF regen %" and "DPF regen status". I now suspect that passive regen just slow down the build up. I've seen that the regen status is sometimes active and then the percentages does not increase as fast.

Don't know what caused any of the turbo failures, workshop only replaced. Wanted to have a look at det old turbo the last time, but that was not allowed since it's was under warranty and Stellantis might require it for analyzis.

I use a scan gauge to monitor the soot load. I wasn’t able to get a banks Idash which I would have preferred. @Donkeyshot how often are you changing your oil ? I find that monitoring the soot helps me not turn it off when it’s regenerating.

@challenger23 I change the oil when the lifespan indicator indicates 10%, so just a bit before the car tells me to change it. The dealership changes the oil, they recommend every 20 000 km.

That sounds a little long, I do mine at 10,000 or before. I also had the JTD performance oil seal fitted. To prevent the common low oil pressure issues. This shows the difference between the mod and standard.

This is a vehicle that followed mine. A 2.2 diesel that had unknown service history. It had low oil pressure due to the seal. The dealership replaced the oil pump which made no difference. They completely missed the state of the sump.

I’ve actually never heard about the low oil pressure problem, is it so common and what causes it?. The dealership uses long life oil that should last arourd 20.000 kms. One remarkable thing i always notice is that the engine consumes alsmost no oil, i never have to add oil which is a big difference when I compare this with the other 2 liter diesels I owned in my life from other car brands. Now I have 6000 kms left on my oil but I am going to change it next week.

20km is way too long for this engine, or any engine. Just use regular oil and change it each year. No point in spending 15k on a new engine later to be able to save 100 bucks on an oil change now.

The oil is changed once or twice a year (depends how much I drive). The dealership only uses long life oil. Im from Begium, here it is a common habit that oil of diesel engines is changed after 20 000 kms, we tend to follow what the dashboard of the vehicle tells when to change the oil. Anyways, i am going to change it more regularly and hope the engine will last at least 200 000 kms. We bought our Wrangler with the intention to keep it as long as possible.

It is a common problem but not one of those almost guaranteed issues you find on certain brands. I just think think it’s best to do the JTD seal upgrade on your next service. It’s more labour removing the sump etc but other than that relatively simple. Peace of mind more than anything. Particularly if you’ve got long term plans for the jeep.
