Door mirror glass replacement?

Has anyone ripped their glass out of the mirror? I have scratches all over mine from being stupid and I'd like to replace it. I see listings for all the different pieces in the mirror but hoping someone else has replaced theirs to help ease my mind about ripping the glass out.

I have all that fancy crap in my mirrors so not sure if just the glass can be replaced.

If the scratches aren't too deep, you can try white toothpaste and a microfiber towel and try to buff them out, then wipe it clean.

edit: I've certainly replaced just the glass on GMT800's and GMT900's so I gotta believe it's possible on a JL

RA has a bunch of listings for just glass. Glass with backing plate. Blah blah blah. But much cheaper if I can just replace the glass.

I replaced mine when I bought my Rubi easy to replace you can buy it at quadratec heated or non heated.

I guess I'm more after understanding which part needs to be replaced. I think the glass is in the backing plate?? So if I get the backing plate it should be plug and play. But if all I need to replace is the glass in the backing plate it looks much cheaper.

Yeah you pop out the mirror detach wires for the heated ...the mirror has this small square with a round divet that just pops back onto the post after you attach the wires (heated)

Its Easy took me all of 10 minutes... First tilt the mirror all the way to one side with the button (for access) then I unscrewed the 3 bolts on the inside of the door out and cradled the mirror so it didn't hit the door when free... then you gently lift the glass with a rag and it pops out...then pop the new one back in and screw the assembly back in. You might not need to unscrew the whole mirror, I have gorilla hands so it was hard for me to grab the mirror(glass) while on the door.

Confirmed with the dealer. 68361971AA is the part number for my mirror. It has the whole backing plate on it like you suggested.
