Does your AC always turn on?

I have a 2018 JLU Sport. I have noticed that my AC will almost always turn on when I start my car. I have tried it in defrost, it comes on as expected. But it shouldn't come on in any of the other settings I feel like, especially because I have my heat on max or close to it. Does this happen to you and is it normal or an issue?

Well, you will see the AC light come on dependent on a couple/few setting choices that you might make. Example, if you select RECIRC, the AC light will illuminate.

I run it on no recirculated air. I am aware of most of the common triggers for the ac but am trying to figure out if my ac is broken or just a jeep thing

Are you talking about the loud cooling fan? That's not necessarily the AC coming on.

Nope. I can hear & feel the ac condenser kick on after speed 3. Only hear the loud fan in the summer when the fan is all the way up

If it’s set to auto and the cabin temp needs to be cooled or heated each system does it’s thing and the A/C light does not come on, the only time I can remember seeing my A/C light on is when it was not in auto, I basically set the temp in auto and don’t worry about it and it seems to work fine

FYI: The loud cooling fan is no longer loud thanks to TSB 18-041-18-Rev B / PCM Flash Update / October 16 2018. There are several posts in the JL forum confirming this flash update fixed the loud cooling fan problem.
