Maybe it's just me. LOL. But one tire depending on which way you last turned the steering wheel seems to be kicked out just a little.

I have a new Clayton lift. New fox shocks, new fox ATS stabilizer, and I have had it aligned. The only thing out on the alignment was a half a degree of toe.

The jeep drives beautiful, better than it ever has, even better than new. I tried to take some pictures. The way it is in the pic.s it's the passenger side that looks kicked out to me. The wife even noticed.

So is this just me?
Am I seeing this correct?
Can anyone else see this?
And do I need to worry about it?
Is it play in the tie rod? The alignment guy said everything was fine?

Thanks

when you lift your jeep the axles naturally shift. did your lift come with an adjustable front track bar? some people don't like the axle being shifted but a little is not hurting anything and if you think about as your suspension compresses the axle is shifting all the time.

Yes, front and rear adjustable track bars that are adjusted. Alignment done, everything is centered and good.

It does not appear to me as an axle shift. It's just one side or the other not both (I don't think) depending on which way you last steered when parking.

can you post your alignment print out? looking at your photo you need to shorten your track bar slightly.

I personally don’t see the axle being off center that much… and it may well be the angle in the pics or my untrained eye, but maybe it’s just toed out more than you’d like?

seeing that alignment spec sheet would clarify for sure!

run a straight edge ie 2x4 pressed against the tire at top of tire and bottom and measure the gap to the fender flare and compare the gap on both sides. looks like the passenger side will have 1/2-3/4" more gap than the driver side. if that is the case take that measurement divide it by 2 and that is how much you need to shorten your track bar.

Here's the sheets. Before is the lower toe number.

Wouldn't adjusting the tie rod affect the toe?

Thanks

yes it would. I would not mess with the tie rod. I am saying track bar not tie rod.

If you compare the angle of the outer edge of the fender flairs on the single wheel photos, you'll notice a difference in the angle at which the photos were taken. This makes it difficult to see what's going on.

I agree with jadmt's measure check. But I would place the bottom of the straight edge against the bottom of the rim. This would take differences in bottom of tire bulge out of the picture.

Both before and after alignment number look really good. Personally, I wouldn't run quite that much toe in, but it's in spec.

Thanks guys

I am learning all this jeep stuff. I know it's difficult to see in the photos. I tried to get good pic.s.

The track bars are bran new and I think about as close as we could get center.

Tell me if my thinking is off. I'm thinking not track bar because it changes. Sometimes it's the left side that looks like its off, sometimes it's the other side. Track bar being off center wouldn't do that, would it?

Is it possible the drag link bushings are shot?

I will check further into it as soon as I can. Turn if different ways, and check with a straight edge.

Hey brother,
Alignment looks good, maybe a little to much toe in, not off enough to mess with it…. I wouldn’t mess with the axle, it looks centered enough, if it is off a 1/2”, you would only be shifting it a 1/4”……If there was anything wrong with draglink you’d feel it in the steering wheel……

if it drives and handles as well as you say, just drive it and enjoy it, keep an eye out for any unusual tire wear….. and start saving up for new tie rod, drag link and ball joints, because that should be your next mods…… ✌

@Roky

Hey brother

It's mostly my jeep OCDness I guess. Same reason I got the alignment, I just had to know. I will keep an eye on things.

For me, the Fox ATS T/S is hands down the best of the three I got to mess with. I had it at 15 and it was a little jumpy/bouncy. I dialed it up to 19 and man it drives and rides nice. Little heavy at parking lot speeds, but great once your rolling.

I have looked at tie rod ball joints etc. saving would be a good word. LOL.
Thanks

… and out the window goes my “toed out” theory for sure.

keep us posted on what you end discovering/doing, or if you decide to just leave it as is if it drives well like @Roky said!

On first glance the passenger side definitely looks off to me, but then the more I look at it I'm not so sure ... maybe there's a bit of an optical illusion going on?

one thing I am not see is the thrust angle on the alignment sheet.
