One of the reasons I bought my Jeep was to get to more remote fishing holes/camping spots. It is really annoying bumping elbows with many other fisherman every time you go out. I don’t mind sharing the water, but at times it gets ridiculous how close others will get to you.

I have noticed that most avid fisherman in the area don’t go wheeling at all or don’t go very far on a trail.

Is this your experience as well? Do any of you stop to fish while out on a trail?

I do. Almost all of my off road driving is when I am fishing on the beach. There are also a number of narrow sand trails that lead to some of my favorite spots. These trails usually have some very soft, deep sand and you need to be aired down to about 12psi on these where on the beaches that I frequent 18-20psi is enough. I have been fishing for most of my life, it is a great pastime.

While I don't considerate it "wheeling" for the most part I do need 4x4 to drive up to 60 miles down the beach at PINS (Padre island National Seashore). I air down at the sticks, put it in 4 Lo and go. Always go at least 7-10 miles down but depending on beach and water conditions can go down as far as the jetties
