I recently took off my factory 392XR 35’s and went to super wide 36.4” x15.5” MT tires. It looks amazing, still drives great, but it is a little too tall for my girls and gets more attention than I need. I’m thinking about swapping to a more subtle 34.5” tall 15.5” wide AT.

Anybody dropped down in diameter and not regretted it? Once you go MT does it suck to go to a less aggressive AT look?

Is 1" even noticeable when getting in and out of a Jeep?
No, not at all. My wife is short enough to walk under my side view mirrors without having to duck. It's like watching someone climb a tree every time she gets in. Yet, she had no idea when I went from 38's to 40's. She also didn't seem to notice the difference after I swapped the 3.5" springs out for 4.5's, shortly after the 40's went on. My JLUR went from 4" of actual lift over stock to 6" over. That's a total of 3" of extra height added after she was saying that it was already too high.

A climb is still a climb and a stretch is still a stretch, regardless of a couple extra inches along the way.

Also worth mentioning, we take my Jeep everywhere that we go together. She spends more time per week riding around in my Jeep than driving her own car.

I run 37x13.5's on Mopar beadlockson the weekend and then on Monday morning I roll into the shop and have them swap on my 32" factory tires/wheels, then Fri after work, I go to the shop and they swap them back.

I went down in tire size once. I dropped from 39.5x18x16.5 to 38x15.50R-16.5 several years ago. But have I ever dropped to a tire size smaller than stock? No, never.

Technically we all go down in tire diameter as our tread wears down by a third of an inch or so.
You're talking tires? ....oh

I do this regularly. For the most part I keep the 33" on during the winter non wheeling season then switch out to the 37" the week before a trail ride. If there are extended lengths between rides I switch it back to the 33". I keep rotation schedules on each set and move them at 5000 miles. Just trying to keep the wear on the 37 MTs at a minimum. I bought a tire lift to help the kids when I have them move them around.
For me I could care less about the look. The AT tires are quieter, wear better, and better mileage. With all the wheeling in my area being muddy and soupy I have no alternative than to use Mud Tires.

Just ask @cosine he knows!
Can we see pictures of these ridiculous tires?
Actually I wouldn't say they'd be ridiculous, back in my early Jeep days I ran 35x14.5x15 tires on my CJ, TBH I wished they still made wider 35s. Now if it's on a 20" wheel, that's another thing (and maybe they are but???).
Here's my CJ w/ that tire back awhile
