So I was just looking at my build sheet for my 2925 JL Sport V6 6MT and it doesn’t say anything about the wiring but I have HD brakes, trailer sway damping, 5100# GVW, it says normal duty suspension. I ask this because it says in standard equipment i have carpet floor mats And then on the “other” section it says I have mopar all weather floor mats and then specifies that I have springs left front right front left rear and right rear. But in standard equipment that I have normal duty springs. I was under the impression I had non HD brakes cause I have a pretty basic sport. And the GVW of 5100# seems like a lot for a basic 6MT sport. My scale weight is 4057#.

It didn’t. Neither did my grand Cherokee WK2 but was wired For one and had the HD brakes also.

Pretty sure all Willys have HD brakes and mine didn't come pre-wired. I installed a hitch and ran the wires myself.

No hitch, no wiring. Easy enough to do both, hitch takes a few minutes, wiring an hour or two.
Added both plus the trailer brake controller (you need an extra loom for that one) on my 2018.

Which brake controller did you use? I'm getting a single axle trailer to pull small 16ft Skiff and I'm told I don't really need it, but wonder if it makes the ride safer? I saw some on eTrailer for about $100, some closer to $200.

Already answered if the trailer doesn't have electric brakes.

It'll make it safer and *may" be legally required. Depends on lots of variables.
