Yes, that was in 2017 when I was a good hiker. Now I am too lazy to hike that far.Exactly. The point is that viscosity is temperature dependent and the actual viscosity the engine sees is dependent on ambient temps, load and length of operation. Two vehicles operating at the same time could have oil temps anywhere from -20 to 250+ and the oil has to be able to handle that range. A 40 or 50 grade can have a thinner viscosity in summer AZ than a 0w-20 in Alaska winter. If the engine can accommodate the higher viscosity of 20 grade in subzero then it can equally accommodatethe 40 or 50 grade in AZ summer.
