it's just math. doesn't matter what you do at work.

looking at the Monroney sticker makes it abundantly clear to most folks. remove that Diesel option; ~$4K less, not $6K less. that's the definition of a difference in basic arithmetic.

don't worry about it so much.
I don't think you read what I stated. It is not the math that is in contention. The math is the easy part and I think if I can find over $500k worth of discrepancies down to the penny in over $450m worth of spend within 1.2 million line items, then I can do the simple math here.

What is being debated is whether you see the heavy duty 8HP75 automatic, that is a required upgrade for the diesel, as apart of the diesel option package or not, and whether you start your options costs calculation from base model with the standard transmission or one that already has been upgraded with the light duty 850RE automatic.

I would be shocked if the EcoDiesel made a return for these reasons (and yes, I owned two of them):

- It's typical European junk. Nothing automotive engineered in Europe has ever been worth pissing on if it caught fire, and the EcoD was no different. The 3rd gen was slightly better in some areas but still trash. A main reason Jeep and Ram ditched it was that it was eating them alive with warranty claims.

- 2027 is another emissions tier bump. It's becoming more difficult to sell ICE, not easier. We're even seeing particulate filters put on gasoline engines now because of it.

- The company that made the VM diesels folded, right? I read last year that they were essentially headed into bankruptcy.

- There is no business case for this. Diesel fuel is more expensive, and new gasoline technology is putting down similar MPG figures without the need for DEF.

In summary, this is not happening. Just like a factory V8 for Gladiator will never happen due to SAE J2807.

LOL, very true,.

Sorry, for messing up the thread @Grayhound.

I have seen zouch say the costs of the diesel his way several times in this forum and have never even thought about replying to such a small thing that is just a preference on how one looks at costs and options.. However, this is not the first time zouch has gotten on me about the way I state the costs and options of the diesel in these forums, and I was just trying to finally put this to bed so he can get off my back about it in the future.

To me, it really is a stupid reason to quote someone to say they are doing it wrong or not your way just once, let alone multiples times in different threads in a forum. This is just one of those things that is nether right or wrong and just depends on how one prefers to look at it.

Sorry again and I will make this my last post on the matter within this thread.

I did that the first few times, about the exact same subject, in other threads, but finally got tired of it. Maybe I should have just blocked after the second time.

Happy 4th and 250th to you as well.

we get that it's "engrained" [sic] in you to think 4=6 because of the way you do things at work.

but for the rest of the world subtracting a $4000 option is still a difference of $4000. (even in Texas, and i have family there too.)
