The official production start date for the 2 door turbo has been March 12th for a couple of months. It's been posted here many times. My dealer estimated 8-12 weeks (ordered monday 2/19)
Nice. I ordered mine on the 10th and have only heard that it starts in mid March.

So what is appeal of the turbo on a rubicon? Serious question.

We picked up the 3.6 on our sport and I’d rather of had a diesel but don’t understand why the turbo is appealing for low speed off road vehicle. Is it just for when on road? Turbo only kicks in at higher rpm unlike a supercharger, correct?

Again, serious question as I’m curious. Thx.

So I'm more interested in the 4cyl for gas mileage and quick pickup getting on highway. I live in the city so gas mileage is a plus for me. Also, the 4cyl has a higher torque so off road/towing it'll be better, even just slightly.

But at what rpm is the torque and hp higher? I know on my little fusion twin turbo it is great but I only drive it at highway speed. On trails and off road is the hp and torque there? Again, I’m genuinely intrigued as that’s one of the reasons I would have preferred a diesel......... low speed/rpm torque.

Generally speaking turbos rely on load to build boost, not RPMs. Torque is 295 ft-lbs @ 3000 RPMs vs 265 ft-lbs at 4800RPMs? on the 3.6L. 2.0L will also have the electric BSG to provide a little extra torque off idle/low RPMs which will be very beneficial on a small engine. But so far we have to wait for dynos and reviews to see how this new engine really performs.

I have no doubt the 2.0L will be very good on pavement.

Not to mention the huge improvement you get at altitude... I live at 5k ft above sea level and do most offroading at like 10-12k. So for people that live in places like Colorado and Utah, the 2.0L is better in almost every way.

I think the official MPG when it's released will only be slightly better than the Pentastar.

The thing that's going to kill Hurricane engine option sales is the price. It's an automatic $3,000 tacked on and soon as you check that box. $3,000 buys a LOT of aftermarket parts for a Pentastar model.
Performance wise which engine do we like the best V6 vs 2.0 turbocharge

The 4-cyl has been reviewed as noticeably quicker off the line, probably due in part to the BSG and hits its peak hp and torque at lower rpms. The 6-cyl does great in real-world use and on the trails. Power is more than adequate while mileage is just ok.

Probably the big differentiator will be gas milage/range but that may mean moving from 87 octane to 91 to make those improvements significant - we won't know until they're out on the road in the hands of real users.

Also note the upcharge for the 4-cyl is only $1000 - but they'll only mate it to the automatic which is an additional $2000 if you had planned on getting the manual.

The 4-cyl has been reviewed as noticeably quicker off the line.
Remember that most of those reviews were above 3,000 ft altitude in Arizona during the preview (only time they openly offered the 2.0T for reviewers), so people at lower elevations may find the difference to be less impressive without the added ~9% difference.

Same here. I think this is what's holding up the 4-cyl as I don't think they can't sell them until they get the official numbers. One review cited 27 mpg in mixed driving so I'm guessing 25/29?

It will be interesting to see - the BSG should push up the city number and the 4-cyl/turbo/8-spd combination should push up highway. Unless they show major problems I'll probably go 4-cyl when I order.
Aside from MPG performance on trails v6 vs 2.0. All around engine the torque could be a proble on trails I hear it feels like a lexus not a truck

I live at 5k ft above sea level, and most of the offroading I do is like 10-12k ft. The same V6 in my JK feels very sluggish up here.

Also, the 2.0L has more torque and at lower RPMs, which is better for the crawling/slow stuff that we do on very rough Colorado service roads.

Do you think you'll be able you shut the BSG off? I hate the feeling of the jutter when the car starts and stops.
