All the trial guides were super impressed with the Sahara and I, everyone else had mods and yet I didn't get hung up or stuck once, I picked good lines I guess. The hardcore old guys in their 70's are like "you don't need no fancy lockers or beadlocks…!"
I know huh. Those old farts wheel with carburated engines, leaf springs, drum brakes, ply tires, open diffs, sloppy shifters and no power steering. And still get through!

Did the YJ or TJ have much of a refresh? The JK did, 2011 interior and 2012 motor/tranny. I love the JL interior don't think it needs much if any improvement...
TJ did in 2002 (1997-2006 run) that updated the dash, seats, along with problem areas:
Gas Tank skid
Tub rusting under the doors

Probably some other stuff. I figured it was to apply a fix to the issues that they could easily fix. They may introduced the "X model at that time too

No matter what they change or leave alone, many Jeep owners will bitch that they shouldn’t have changed it. Or that they should have changed it. They’ll also opine that they’re so glad that they bought the last “real” Jeep before FCA/Stellantis/the communists ruined Jeeps. Just like JK owners when the JL came out. Just like TJ owners when the JK came out. Just like… you get the idea.

But the TJ owners were right....the JK was absolutely horrible. So much so that I waited 14 years to buy a JL

I’ll give you that CJ owners had a legitimate right to crap on the YJ.

Haha. When/if you try an 8, 9 or 10 rated trail, you will feel different about not having those items. When I wheel with a group, it's mostly the experienced that have modified rigs.
For sure, with all the rain the trail was running around a 5-6 according to the guides so for my stock Sahara it was plenty! hardcore enough for me! I gotta get to work on Monday to pay for the dam thing! I had made only one payment!!! And now I need mods, and sliders since what I though was a bypass, ah wasn't, and it f'ed up the running boards! Great time though, next year gonna take my brothers Jeep, mess that one up!

YJ had the 4.0 added to replace the wheezing 4.2.

TJ had the addition of the Rubicon and the LJ.

I’m sire there are other things like added packages, such as Islander, Rio Grande. Dropped packages like Laredo.

Sahara first appeared on YJ. It was a cool tan-and-green appearance package.

Quadra-Coil suspension appeared on TJ, adapted from ZJ. Perhaps the single most important performance improvement on Wrangler of the past 30 years: it significantly improved on-road ride comfort and increased off-road articulation.

I want to see more customization from the factory across the board from looks to performance. Porsche has nailed this better than any other automaker in history.
