2021 JL Sahara High Altitude. 17k miles STOCK Was scheduled for service this morning at Stetler Dodge in York PA. Was in several times for death wobble, think Im up to Model G of the Steering Damper.

Made appt before holidays, waited untill today. Unsafe to drive. Was told today its not in warrenty! Yes in went out in October(Warrenty). Whats the scoop if they worked on it before and now they just drop me. UGH Called Jeep Cares, They didnt. 60mph any slight bump, occilations that wont stop.
Any resonable suggestions appreciated.

If you haven’t already, install a sector shaft bracket that stabilizes the track bar. That’s what fixed mine.

Usually parts and labor on a repair is guaranteed for 1 year (you have to prove that the damper is bad). However, as most folks explain, the steering damper is not the cause nor is it going to to fix DW.

Seems very strange that a Jeep with this low of miles would be seeing something like this!

Do you drive it year round? One BAD pothole can almost take out a ball joint. The plastic they use in the factory ones can crack and break in a situation like this.

If you feel the Dealership in not capable, a Good 4WD shop or an alignment shop may be a better choice for you. This should not be going on on a low mileage STOCK Jeep.

They were fixing the wrong item. Most likely the track bar is loose. Many reports of steering stabilizer not being the issue. Make sure where ever you take it will retorque all bolts and nuts

After I was denied service, I went home and did my own service. Found Just about EVERY bolt loose. most were finger tight. Including the castle nuts with the spilt pin in them. Damper was loose, I never took it off road and I dont drive it everyday. The wobble is so severe that im sure it ovaled out the aluminum knuckles and slammed all the componts.

stated ( install a sector shaft bracket that stabilizes the track bar) I can turn wrenches, just they had been involved this entire time. I think snugging up the obvios loose hardware is going to correct it. Im not looking to GET IT TO WOBBLE. Im terrified of it. The Right thing for them to do was take a look. the pitman nut is a tough one to check and snug up.

Contacted the state attorney generals office, see what they say! Im not looking for a 5k Terraflex kit. Just do the right thing mr Dealer. Please. What is a sector shaft bracket any pix? Thank you guys for your support!

We all know these are our babies! God Bless!

I shared a video earlier to better understand the DW: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/how-to-fix-death-wobble.109282/

First learn about the issue and know possible causes, then maybe take a look at your JL and see if you can find possible related aspects posing issues. Upgrading steering damper often times doesn't solve the root cause, it just masks it.
That is a great video, ugh watched so many yours get right to the point!!!!! Thats the exaxt hardware I found loose Ball joints/ tie rods/ drag bar/ tightenend all of them! They were finger tight.
Remember these guys had it every free oil change and tire rotation, think i still had a few left. They stated I went out of warrenty oct/22/2023 Really and your not going to look at it. I think it may be corrected. But I need a real torqe wrench and a realignment after all that snugging!

THANK YOU FOR THAT VIDEO, You should repost it as most are very old! thats right to point!
