Dealer that sold our Jeep was always polite. They always smiled when they said, "It's a Jeep Thing"

When the TSB came out for the Wrangler steering gear change I heard that again. And they refused to do the work in the TSB inspire of help reading it.

@JeepCares referred me to FCA Jeep Canada Customer Care. The rep there was so helpful and recommended another dealer

that dealer was Team Jeep near Toronto and they were excellent. They did the work perfectly, and it made a massive change in the handling of the Wrangler. It was fun to drive after that. "It's a Jeep Thing!"
I just stopped at my dealer and they the service advisor made me feel like I was inconveniencing him, making him stop texting, to answer if he had heard of this TSB before. He wouldn't even look it up to see if they had anything in their system about it. I guess they only want to deal with oil changes and brake jobs. I may try a different dealer in town and hopefully have better luck.

V8 Wranglers begin at ~$75K, and only go north from there.

The heart wants what the heart wants.
Went to dealer here in oregon and saw a 392 that was just delivered and they wanted $30,000 over msrp...

My local dealer sold his dealership to a conglomerate type owner. Was locally owned for like 30 years. Now they have 0 new Jeeps on lot. None. Have like 6 used ones on the row by highway. Too funny. I do my own maintenance and pray to the Jeep Gods I never have a warranty issue. I’m scared.

That was my experience.

Turns out that their test route was at low speed on the smoothest road in town.

So I reached out to @JeepCares. They referred me to FCA Jeep Canada Customer Cares. After a good talk there things started to happen. Hope this helps.

Put a piece of chalk in your console. When getting a rotation write the position where the tire is to be after the rotation. I use spare to LR, to RF to LF to RR to SP. This has always ended up right except the one time I had it done at the Franklin TN dealership. They did a 4 wheel front to back. But I caught them and they fixed it. But a few days later, preparing for a 3000 mile trip I checked to see if my keyed lug nut removal socket was where it should be and it was missing. The dealer kept it, but returned it after I called them on it.
I'm new, probably this has already been addressed but I can't find when searching: I see the logic why the 5 tire rotation is employeed...but, just thinking here that if each rotation at ~5,000 miles the fact is there will be one tire with 5,000 less miles on it and therefore 1-2/32" more tread, which would likely create a slight pull or some other issue. I'm leaning towards just keeping the spare as a true spare for flats, etc for this reason and having it serviceable for (potentially) 5+ years (with using a spare cover.) Also, much easier to obtain tires in sets of 4 vs 5...am I wrong on this? TIA

Hmmm...that’s neither here nor there. Keeping the spare unused to buy 4 tires locks you into the tire brand, model and size you currently have. If your current tires get discontinued, you will end with an orphan tire.

Also, tires are supposed to be replaced every five years due to the natural degradation of the rubber compound. So eventually you will have to throw away a tire that never got used.

I much rather rotate all five tires and get the most miles out of the entire set.

I rotate all 5 so I don't have to worry about buying the same tires to match when getting new tires.

good thoughts and I generally agree although as mentioned if one uses a spare as a true, short-term spare then who cares if its an orphan, different brand, or slightly off size wise? I mean before Jeep, I've used really small donut spares for my other cars when having flt tires and after many more than 5 years on the spare...and no issues. Again, I'm more concerned with a less-than-true driving experience with the other four if one tire always has 5,000 less miles on it.

Keeping a different brand/size spare might not be an issue if you get a flat in the city.

If you get a flat 100+ miles out in the middle of nowhere... on a weekend...not so much... You may have to limp your way back to civilization to have the flat tire repaired or replaced.

The only time tire quantities might have affected my purchase is when I shopped snow tires at Tire Rack. They get a bit nannyish* if <4 such tires are ordered. As I've no problem with their policy, it didn't affect my decision to buy from them.

*"Tire Rack and all tire manufacturers recommend that winter / snow tires only be installed in sets of four. Online orders of fewer than four winter / snow tires may result in a follow-up phone call from one of our product specialists to verify that your new tires will match those currently installed on your vehicle."

I've seen a good number of photos on this forum where the owner shows off his new set of 5 tires and [aftermarket] wheels (so as to have a matching spare). You shouldn't have any problem doing the same.

Oh and while I was there I saw a new Dodge Challenger with a $15k market adjustment. People have to be crazy to pay that.
I've seen "Market Adjustments" everywhere. I'm even seeing 2-3 year old MB CLA with 9K miles selling for $8K over original MSRP, same with Wranglers in my area.
