I posted this to reddit and a few people recommended posting it to here:

My wife ordered a wrangler and the dealership ordered a soft top instead of the color matching hard top. There was nothing on the order confirmation about the type of top that was ordered but we stressed to the dealer, we want a tuscadero pink rubicon, with a color matching hard top. They promised that's what it was going to be. We alerted the dealer once we saw it on the window sticker after it became available on the tracker. They admitted that they made a mistake but now the cost of that option post manufacturing is $~4k instead of $1500 for pre and they are not going to make it right. We are getting our deposit back but I am done with that dealer.

After digging deeper, I think it is because they didn't know what was standard or not. They thought a hard top was standard I assume. As far as I know, the only thing I can do is not buy it cause I sure as heck ain’t paying the extra $2500 but it is frustrating cause it’s a limited edition color and we need a vehicle by around July 1st so we aren’t going to be able to get the one we want now due to the time frame.

I started a case with FCA and we will get our deposit back but is there anyway that if we re-order with a new dealer, that Jeep can bump us up in the production line? Any other options out there? This just adds to my distrust and dislike of dealers. @JeepCares

Order through Gupton. They’ll get shit right and give you a great price.
Issue is timing now. It is mostly going to be my wife's vehicle except I plan on using it for off-roading. We just had our 3rd daughter so I agreed to the tuscadero because it is kind of special as me owning up to the girl dad.

Unless you find what you want in inventory somewhere, this is unfortunately what you will need to deal with at this point.

You can also consider purchasing the vehicle you ordered and looking for a used hard top after. Even if you find one in a different color, you could have it painted. Selling the soft top could get you money towards the hard top purchase.

I am not aware of any way to jump the queue. You’ll just have to re-order and wait.

Darn, I will have to discuss it with the wife. Thanks

Personally I'd not do that option out of principle; as it effectively rewards the dealer that messed up and puts the onus on you to maybe possibly sell/swap the top for a hard top and then also need to get it painted to color match.

I'd do as others noted and look at Ratberts dealer list; then order from one of them that will give you the best deal and figure out another option (e.g. maybe renting a vehicle) for what you needed it for by July 1st.

There is also still a chance it gets to you by then as well depending on the options. Another user just put in a basically "stock" Rubicon X on May 1st and it is already on its way to them. Worth contacting another dealer with a good rep and good below invoice pricing on here and get a new order in for one; and ask them if that might have what you're looking for already in inventory while you're placing the new order.

Good luck either way. Hope it works out for you.

You might be able to reorder but you won’t know if it will be built quick or not.
Mine was ordered on May 1 and built by the 13th.

still don’t know the delivery date.

If you have the ability to rent a car for the time difference it might be your best bet.

There is more to not having a factory hard top then just the top.

you will not have the hook ups for rear windshield whipper and the controls parents in the steering wheel.

Speak of the devil 🤣 You were who I was referring to; though, for some reason I thought yours had already shipped. Still there is the potential that @Philament wins the order lottery like you and a new order gets through being built in 2 weeks; which would still leave it close to arriving before July 1st depending on shipping to where they are. Given they are in MN probably less time for shipping.

Also, @Philament you mentioned you want a Rubicon with a color matched hard top; the only way to do that currently with the 2024s is the Rubicon X trim. Just ensuring you're aware so you don't end up with a pink Rubicon with a black hardtop if you do decide to do a re-order.

Also, don't forget to have them add the ADH package if you intend to have the aux switches and tow hitch as those are no longer standard equipment even though the build & price site shows them as such.

This is why after the I ordered my last Rubicon, I asked the dealer for a copy of his order form. Sure enough he had ordered the wrong seats and I was able to get it corrected before the Jeep went into production.
i learned this the hard way from the previous Rubicon I ordered. The dealer screwed that order up too and it came with not only the Hardtop but the soft top as well. They tried to get me to accept it and said I could sell the soft top. I told them either remove the soft top and take the cost off the order or cancel it. They took the top off and took off the cost.

Thank you. I figured that out in the last few days after talking with an employee of Jeep. I trusted the dealer to know the product he is selling and I didn't double check it myself but I assumed he should know his product, especially if he was considered the "jeep expert" at the dealership. Now I am pretty well aware of the options and that we have to go to the rubicon X or do the Sky one touch on the Rubicon.

I learned my lesson. Never trust the dealer to know what they are talking about (or at least the ones in MN)

If you're not opposed to traveling to pickup, I'd suggest taking a look at Mark Dodge in Louisiana; incase you didn't see their recent updates

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...ate-on-gas-wrangler-orders-mark-dodge.128973/

10% below invoice + an additional 1% affiliate discount + any incentives/rebates on a Rubicon/Rubicon X is a pretty crazy deal. Probably well worth the trip.

Hope your wife gets the pink Wrangler she wants.
