After reading @wibornz review, I wanted to throw in my two cents about the Wolfbox G900.
My Jeep is mechanically stock. Our mods are generally “quality-of-life” accessories. Think hood decal to minimize glare, side steps for my short wife, and hood struts so to eliminate the need for the prop bar. I’m not generally an accessory fan-boy so I don’t post many reviews on this forum. But, I will give props to those that stand out.
The Wolfbox G900 fits our needs perfectly. My wife and I have always wanted a dashcam to document our travels and for police/insurance protection. Also, at our age, we’re less comfortable driving at night. Using the G900 screen and rear camera as a substitute for the rearview mirror is a game-changer. Instead of just seeing darkness and the reflected glare of headlights behind us, the rear view is lit up.
Installation – We actually have the dashcam wiring in two Jeeps. For now, the Wolfbox is installed “part-time” in a JKU. But we will swap it to our JL when we take the 2-door on several road trips in 2024. We are currently using the 12-volt accessory plug but will be hardwiring the camera in both Jeeps in the next month or so. Since the JK has no OEM backup cam with lines, we connected the rear camera cable to the reverse lights (we used solder connectors but I think simple t-taps should work too) to activate the reverse lines on the G900 screen. The rear camera is very easy to install. Just route the cable and tap into the reverse light (if you want to see the reverse lines) and find a location to mount the camera.
Use – As mentioned earlier, the rear camera makes it much easier for us to drive at night. The screen is bright and clear. We like all of the features, ease of use, Wolfbox Player software (and its GPS map tracking capability), and camera resolution. If you want to use the screen and rear camera as a rearview mirror, you will need the anti-glare film. Otherwise, it looks like there are two images on the screen - one from the rear camera and one from the screen reflection. Both the front and rear recorded videos (street driving) are very sharp. Very impressed!
Customer Service – @WOLFBOX CAR LIFE customer service is top notch. Very helpful and responsive.
