I have a Dana M210 front axel on my 2019 2Dr Rubicon.
The Driver side front axel seal is leaking.
My question is this:
Do you have to remove the gears from the pumpkin to replace this seal from the inside or do you replace it from the outside by removing the axel shaft?
I'm hearing different answers from different people. Just trying to find the infinitive answer.

Why I'm asking is that if we have to go from the inside I'm going to change both seals (right & left) while we are in there.

Hope you guys can set this one straight.

You have to remove the carrier from the housing to get at the driver side seal.

It's probably in there tight.

To get the carrier out you need to pull shafts on both sides. With the FAD, you have to pull the module to get the inner shaft out.

To get shafts out you need to remove the unit bearings, but you don't need to separate it from the outer shaft.

When pulling the carrier, make 100% sure to keep track of the caps so they go back in exactly how they came out. Also, you need to make sure the shims between the bearing and the case go back in exactly how they came out.

It's meticulous work but not rocket science.

Thanks for that..
Approximately how long does it take todo?
Besides doing both seal would you recommend doing anything else while we are in there?
She has approx. 41,000 miles on her clock.

If you've done it a few times it takes a couple of hours. For a first time, I'd give it a day.

I would check the conditions of the bearings at least.

If you're adventurous, you could do the pinion seal as long as everything is apart.
