What if some moron doesn't do it perfect and you end up with a leak ? I'd take a big money discount and leave the dent .
Not sure how it’d be possible to screw it up. The windshield is on bloody hinges. It’s removable like the doors. Completely unlike a similar repair on a non-wrangler vehicle.

The factory doesn’t do anything special to “fit” parts together. They aren’t custom fabricated to match each other. An in-spec window frame will match an in-spec body - and if these parts have made it to a dealer they are in-spec. That’s how it works in manufacturing.

Dealers have been known to screw up simple oil changes . Dealers have been known to screw up simple tire inflation . I didn't trust dealer to do my pre-delivery prep . Why would I trust them to swap out a window frame ? I want my window frames fitted by the factory , not some moron working at a dealership .

The same as the welds on the galvanized frame , eh ? Yep , the dealer morons can fix the welds also , eh ? Dealers are not manufacturers , not window frame fitters , nor welders .

My worry is even if I keep the dent and and take the discount as you say, it could leak at the top anyway because it may have flexed the assembly.. so if the new assembly doesn’t fix the issue I won’t take delivery. But like others have said if I was I just buying off the lot I would have probably never known. They would’ve repaired and no one would have known

Very thoughtful , and good points . I don't have that kind of money for a JL , but if I was in your position , I'd get a JK and not take any chances .

So I went to pick up my 2018 JLU Rubicon today at the dealership that I ordered and it was damaged in transport. What’s the thoughts on repair or order a new one?

Order a 2019. Ordering starts September 15th. Why take a 2018 with damage when you can very shortly get a 2019. It will also let you get a chance to look at new for 2019 options.

They are designed so any moron can take them off. I believe only 6 bolts.

Evidently if the dealership can't even perform a oil change or air up tires, why bother.

Talk about f**king up a stopped up sink. WTF.

Because knowing FCA ordering a 2019 could even delay him many more months, then might as well wait for a 2020 lol

Not if it gives you a leak or a whistle , it won't be a quick fix . If you have a harmless dent ; who cares ? Get a big $5,000. credit on your purchase and be happy .
The whole windshield assembly folds down. From there removal/replacement is about the same as taking your doors on and off. If the damage had been to a door and there was another model with same paint would you be afraid that swapping doors would introduce "a leak or a whistle" (or whatever)? The likelihood of introducing leaks/whistles or whatever the hell that wouldn't have already been there is about the same as if you folded down your windshield and back up. IMO getting the replacement is the quickest path to satisfaction.

You can’t reason with the unreasonable. Some people just want to complain.

Not to be to particular, but the torx bolts that come out to remove the windshield/frame are body color painted. There’s no way the window can be removed without disturbing the body color pain on the torx bolts. Just one more thing that would annoy me, personally, since I’d never take the windshield off my Jeep.

But I fully admit to being a 1%er when it comes to things like this.

Not a huge deal for most people, but the torx bolts that need to come out to remove the windshield frame are painted body color. No way they’re coming out w/o disturbing the paint job.

For s person, like me, who would never take off the windshield that is worth considering.
