New member here and I’m limited to which topic I can post a question so I picked the JL as I have a 2017 JKU that could be related. Has anyone had a cylinder 2 misfire? I was told by the dealer that the compression is low on cylinder 2 and that the cost to replace the cylinder head is $4000. That’s seems excessive. Is this on par with the market?

Jerry, That doesn't sound crazy for a dealer doing the work. Unless you have warranty coverage, I wouldn't necessarily go that direction. It should be well worth your time to call around to local shops.

Hopefully someone with more experience with the 3.6L will chime in. I've seen several threads with repeating head/timing issues.

Cylinder #2 is at the front of the driver side bank. The only way to be sure that the compression is low, is to remove the upper intake manifold to gain access to the spark plug. My guess is that the dealer simply ran a diagnostic code read. While it may end up being correct, it is not conclusive with a simple code read. It could be a coil or spark plug. That's where I'd start. If you can't do the work, find a good independent garage that can.

I had a dropped valve on cylinder 6. Total cost to replace both cylinder heads was $6000 at an independent shop.
