Couple more pics of mine...exact same scenario as yours. And the crack pretty much starts where the defroster melts the snow/ice first...JeepCares PM'd me saying they would work out a resolution - I assume that means a full warranty replacement windshield at no cost, as it should since this thing literally split in two in front of me as I sat there with the defroster on!

I made a hi-def video of mine as well (.mov) that really clearly shows there is zero chipping/cracking/pitting/starbursts anywhere along the length of the crack - more proof it was a material failure.

Well Peeps looks like these windshields are CRAP, mine cracked while defrost was on, I printed off a STACK of the complaints of the CRACKED WINDSHIELD CLUB took them to my dealer and said I know you probably think Iā€™m full of crap but my windshield cracked after turning the defrost on and hereā€™s all the complaints about the windshields so somebody somewhere is gonna do something, Iā€™m NOT PAYING for something that was not my fault so they sent me to their collision center the guy came out and looked at it said heā€™s replaced several already he sent me back to the service center to see the service manager and he said they will replace it, problem is since these windshields are CRAP I DO NOT WANT THE SAME WINDSHIELD put back in I donā€™t want to go back up there in a month or so or even when the weather gets cold again and the same crap happen, so I am waiting for the collision guy to call me back to let me know if or what kind of windshield they will put in!!! After paying right at 57 thousand dollars for this Jeep they gonna put crappy a$$ windshields in? Seriously? Here is a pic of the at the time 25 pages of complaints remind you they are on the front and back pages!!! Come on @JeepCares replace our windshields with ones that will last like normal vehicles do!!!

I'm waiting to see what JeepCares does - rep responded to my PM today and said they would sort it out. We'll see - there's clearly something wrong with either the material/type of windshield used or way it's mounted (could be mounted under too high an intial strain allowing the glass zero movement, thereby allowing it to fracture under temperature/thermal change). Windshields have been around for quite some time, however, so this should be rather trivial. :)

I'm fine with one initial replacement at no cost to me, but if it happens again (same thing), I'd want a different type of windshield (better).

The crack on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL started on a cold day when the front defrost was blowing on the windshield. The crack started at the bottom of the windshield and has now moved all the way across.

Just joined the Club today, made it 1240 miles on my new JLUR, I own 4 jeeps, and have not experienced this problem to this degree on either my 81 CJ7 or my 09 JKUR with a cumulative 300k miles I replaced maybe 3 windshields. Those would chip and you can get repaired, these just instantly crack. This is the second one on this jeep the first one cracked at the dealership after I test drove it with nothing noted to hit the windshield over the 10 miles I drove it, cracked while at the dealership and needless to say they replaced it before I bough it. FCA needs to understand there is a problem with the glass and come up with a solution. No other vehicle I own obviously had this problem, I know the flat glass contributes to getting hit more directly but shouldn't crack so easily. My two Cents

Iā€™m getting annoyed because the dealers in my area wonā€™t schedule me with the service dept for this issue even when I reference the JeepCares info. JeepCares keeps asking me to schedule with the dealer...circular logic and becoming a headache already. I might make it a legal issue soon if I canā€™t get this resolved ASAP.

Thatā€™s my point they want to put the same windshield back in and if you look through the posted people have replaced them at least a couple times already, I would rather not keep going through this

I didnā€™t make an appointment I just went there and told them it needed to be inspected and they did it right then!!

Whatā€™s the game plan JeepCares? My dealer wonā€™t schedule me for an appt, my windshield is almost cracked the entire length of the Jeep and Iā€™d really like this thing fixed properly and asap. Clearly there is an issue with these, and as much as we appreciate your presence on the forum (JeepCares) letā€™s see some real action so we know you actually care! My windshield on a brand new JLU rubicon (55,000 dollar vehicle) spontaneously broke in my parking lot with my defroster running. Thatā€™s crazy!

With all the talk of 4Runner vs Wrangler I think it is important to note that my 4Runner that is 2 months old has a crack in the windshield and my Wrangler is Clean as a whistle! #wranglersrule

Do they make the Gorilla glass for the 2019 wranglers? I havenā€™t been able to locate any current information. I just sent a second e-mail to Corning.

So, after sitting for a day in my driveway, I joined the club, I guess. Came out and there was a crack on the driver side windshield. about 6" long, starts at the bottom of the windshield, then curves 90 degrees. I turned on my defrosters and as I was driving through a roundabout/ Rotary it got even longer. No impact marks or anything, the crack is between two paines of glass as you can't feel the fracture from the outside or inside of the vehicle.

Seeing the issues everyone else is having with dealer replacement parts and stuff, I may give my service department a call. Already talked to my sales guy, he said I'd have to talk to them. Honestly, depending on the hassle, I may just have insurance fix it and have them fight with Mopar- I have full glass coverage with no deductible so screw it. I need my Jeep in safe driving condition as it's my only mode of transport, I live in a more rural suburb, work opposite schedules as my wife and I drive my son around on my days off. Following this thread to keep up. I heard there are a few alternatives to OEM releasing windshields but I don't know if they're covered.

Add me to the club! Noticed it a few days ago and don't recall anything smacking my windshield. Will have to take a closer look, but it's already spreading.

The Top 10 Windshields We Repair or Replace Most Often - Safelite
https://www.safelite.com/resource-center/auto-experts/top-10-windshields-repair-replace

This info from Safelite seems to be sorted by volume, not be percentage of vehicles on the road per model. 175,328 Wranglers were sold in 2014, 529,755 Chevrolet Silverados sold in 2014 (the article was from 2015). This doesn't include the amount of each were already on the road of course. If you divide up the amount of each vehicle on the road by the amount of windshields replaced, Wrangler might be #1 by percentage.

Still waiting to hear what I should do to get this repaired @JeepCares. My dealer will NOT schedule me for the windshield (tried several times) and the crack has propagated about 4 more inches. Dealer says they contract out all windshield work with safelite. Iā€™m a busy working professional so I canā€™t just take time off work for a service dept that says they wonā€™t even look at it. For a 50k+ vehicle I expect MUCH better customer service than Iā€™ve received so far . Please let me know how we are going to resolve this evening windshield issue.
