Hi, I am trying to refill the coolant in a 2018 Jeep JLUR. I have a coolant vacuum fill tool and when I hook up the tool and start pulling vacuum, I can not get it to pull enough to move the gauge. I am using a 60 gallon compressor so there is plenty of air pressure. I can’t seem to find a vent anywhere in the system but it seems like there is a vent preventing a vacuum.

I know the tool is capable of pulling a vacuum because I plugged the hole in the bottom with my finger and the gauge went up.

Strongly suggest just opening the drain and doing it the proper way. I've never been a fan of the vacuum assisted cooling drain/fills. The vent is directly under the cap, if you tool isn't sealing the neck and is only taking the place of the cap it won't be able to pull vacuum.

I had the same issue when trying to use a vacuum fill device on my 2019 JL. OEM Tools 24444 to be exact. Discovered air entering the system around the bottom hose fitting of the expansion tank. Its hard to see up under the tank and I didnt try taking it apart to get a better look. Strange thing is that It doesn't leak coolant. Ended up pouring coolant into the tank hoping all the bubbles work their way out. I dont know if air pockets can form that cant be burped.

I have one of the Harbor Fright vac tools. Piece of crap. In order for a tool like this to work, it has to seal at the bottom of the neck of the tank.

For the 3.6, I've filled mine half a dozen times and one other successfully, without a vacuum device, just pour in the coolant and start it. When the thermostat opens top it off and drive it a block or two, check, top, drive, repeat a couple times and it stabilizes.
