Since battery replacement suggestions are often asked in jlwranglerforums.com I noticed that the newest issue of Consumer Reports rates the Odyssey Performance 48-720 ($327) as the best battery that fits Jeep JLs (group 48). They test durability in charge-and-discharge cycles at high temperatures and its cold weather performance.

For the inevitable CR bashers who wouldn't "wipe their ass" with the magazine, they also routinely test toilet paper but lately have tended to recommend bidets for that function. BTW, I installed one last year - love it.

Wait. You installed an odyssey battery or bidet?

Will the battery fall out if the Jeep swerves suddenly?

That sentiment really only applies to automobiles as far as I know. The problem is that CR's methodology is designed around appliances, and for that, it works great. But automobiles aren't appliances, and CR fails miserably at evaluating them. Batteries however are even simpler than dishwashers, so i'd be inclined to at least listen to their suggestions, while still keeping in mind the issues they've had with remaining un-biased in the past.

$327, heck, spring for $520 and get the Odyssey Extreme OBX-AGM27F, not a listed fitment due to 8.8” height terminals included but the same 12.5 x 6.8 . … someone reported putting it in both his JL & JT.so it fits. 😎

Just tell me what the jump start connections are, please.
For those early morning constitutionals where you need a little kick in the rear to get going again?

I installed that battery, not a bidet. I bought it from a local Napa Auto (not online) about a year ago, so time will tell. We’ve primarily had Odyssey batteries in our vehicles for a while now. Probably overly expensive since there are good batteries at Walmart, Costco and other places. @Rhinebeck01 has a good list in the battery talk forum.

Yep- I ended up getting a WallyWorld H-7. The Odyssey has excellent numbers….. but 3 times as good and last 3 times as long for ~ 3 times the price ? Or ~2x for the lesser Odyssey ? 🤔

Agreed, I am a creature of habit. Unless they stop performing I’ll continue with them. I liked Diehard Gold or Platinum “back in the day”. Maybe also overpriced.

The same issue of CR rates the Wrangler as:

our lowest-rated vehicle-makes our Naughty List once again. CR's experts found the ride stiff, access awkward, wind noise high, and fuel efficiency lacking. Predicted reliability is low, too.

That's saying something. It's the lowest-rated vehicle of any kind sold in the USA. 26 points on a scale of 100. They did give it high marks for "suitabilty for intended purpose" however. Unfortunately Jeep's Head of Design estimates that only 10-15% of owners use them for their intended purpose. :(

But...somehow I keep buying them.

Perhaps if they offered an onboard bidet it would enhance their suitability for intended purpose for extended off-roading.
