Got this yesterday. Was annoying as hell. I pulled the battery and the tone stopped. I then called that Jeep wave customer service number. The woman told me a soft reboot could have fixed it without unplugging the battery.
The soft reboot is something like:

Car in acc
Hold voice and green phone button for 30 seconds
Let go
Open driver door 30 seconds
Close
Start vehicle

Something like that.

Started the Jeep yesterday morning only to find a background single-note tone being transmitted over the infotainment system (8.4). AM, FM, SMX all the same. I could hear the radio, but the tone was about half volume and really irritating. Reminded me of the tone that was broadcast when old time television shut down for the night. Oh yes, it was there when using our phones via Bluetooth. Only the direction lady didn't have an underlying tone.

I shut off our phones ... no change. Restarted the Jeep multiple times .. no change. Didn't know about the Fuse 11 reboot trick yesterday, so didn't perform that.

After about 150 miles with 25 to 30 stop/start operations, we stopped for dinner. Just to add to the irritation, dinner was slow being served ... took about one hour. But, when we started the Jeep the tone was gone. Started the Jeep this morning and it's still gone.

Two questions: 1) Has anyone else experienced this? I couldn't find any threads that addressed this problem. 2) Besides a reboot with Fuse 11, anybody have other trouble shooting ideas?

Oh yes, we've been visiting Ghost Towns for the past three weeks - Saturday's trip included three close to home - but, I'm sure an exorcism is not required.

The exact same thing happened to me!

You might want to look for a better benchmark to judge your sanity ... maybe we're both crazy!!!

I have a 2018 RAM 2500 4x4, had the same tone problem this morning, first time ever. Was fine yesterday. I tried everything but disconnecting battery, no luck. Parked it, went back an hour later, and it was fine. Similar to when my screen went ALL BLACK for a day after I stopped at the grocery store, then next day it magically came back on. Dealer told me it's a known software issue but they don't have a fix for it yet. PERFECT! Not a word from Dodge since it was in the shop. So just waiting for the next thing to stop working that has no fix.

Today I noticed a constant humming noise playing the background while listening to Sat radio in my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee summit. At first I thought there was an issue with the station. I changed channels only to find that the humming noise was superimposed on all the channels. I changed to AM/FM and the noise is still there. USB the same thing. the jeep was purchased 30 days ago and only has 2800 km. the constant humming noise increases with music volume. it seems that when the navigation voice is on and the music is turned down to zero volume, the humming noise is not present. This is really frustrating. I think the active noise canceling system is the culprit. I tried to remove fuse F11 and F71 and I still have the same issue. Basically I cannot listen to any music or radio. I am thinking of taking the car to the dealer to get serviced. Anyone was able to fix this issue themselves?

So Iā€™ve had the constant tone twice in the past 24 or so hours. Started yesterday when my phone abruptly disconnected from the cord. Didnā€™t drive for the rest of the ending and was okay this morning and all day up until about 15 minutes ago, it started again when staring the car. Sent a message to Jeep Cares so we will see. Anyone come up with a permanent fix yet? Or what may cause this?

I have been experiencing the radio wine on and off since buying a 2019 Wrangler Unlimited..there is no set time when it happens.....but will remain as long as the Jeep is running....if I stop the vehicle for an hour or so...something resets itself....and the noise stops....I have turned off my phone ...all the fans etc...lights....and it still whines...it actually started one day as I was driving to the dealer for an oil change...so everyone in the service section got to experience first hand what the problem sounds like. The Jeep was shut off ...the oil changed ...when I started the vehicle...the whine was still there...I had another appointment 60 miles away....I drove 40 to get the oil changed...so basically for 100 miles my radio and GPS were useless due to the whine. When a I started the Jeep to drive home...something had reset its self and there was no whine.
The dealer has put in a new radio amp for the speakers...it has the 9 speaker Alpine system....put in a new speaker...replaced the radio and it still will whine ...but not at any set timeframe.....it starts whining when it wants...yesterday they disconnected my backup system that beeps when something comes into view of the camera.....I have the 8.4 inch radio system. The camera still works...but no more beeping. This is a safety disadvantage.....as the beep sensors pick up a wider path than the back up camera.....I have had a number of fusions in my neck with hardware and I rely not only on the camera but the beeping sensors also. I was told to drive it for a while to see if it stops the beeping...problem is...I might have to drive a couple months before it might whine again. I like my Jeep....but Chrysler is going to have to step forward and find a fix or replace with a new Jeep.

Had this happen the other night. Did it over all audio sources eventually, but at first was only over USB iPhone. SUPER DUPER annoying as others have mentioned. Started up yesterday and there was no issue. Not looking forward to this happening again.

Hi Husker4theSpurs,

I sincerely apologize for the frustration associated with this concern. If this continues to happen and you decide to address it with your local Jeep dealer, please let us know via PM. We'd be happy to have this documented and connect you with a case specialist for an additional layer of assistance during that process.

I have an off and on squeal/noise and have had for a year. They dealer has done a radio update flash and last week changed the entire antenna assembly. The problem still exist. If you hold the antenna mast the noise goes away. They have initiated a STAR case with the manufacturer but haven't scheduled a time for the investigation/diagnostics yet. It seems to have everyone stumped.

Yes. They did that last week. I think they called it a STAR case??? I'm waiting for them to call and set an appointment to leave it so that they can try to figure it out.

Thanks for the reply! I'll post an update when they finally identify the problem.

Hi Mike,
Sounds good! To clarify, a STAR case handles the technical side of your repair process. The case I was referring to is one that will connect you with a Customer Care agent to work with you and your dealer throughout this process! If you decide this is something you would like to look into, please feel free to private message us!
