Started the Jeep yesterday morning only to find a background single-note tone being transmitted over the infotainment system (8.4). AM, FM, SMX all the same. I could hear the radio, but the tone was about half volume and really irritating. Reminded me of the tone that was broadcast when old time television shut down for the night. Oh yes, it was there when using our phones via Bluetooth. Only the direction lady didn't have an underlying tone.

I shut off our phones ... no change. Restarted the Jeep multiple times .. no change. Didn't know about the Fuse 11 reboot trick yesterday, so didn't perform that.

After about 150 miles with 25 to 30 stop/start operations, we stopped for dinner. Just to add to the irritation, dinner was slow being served ... took about one hour. But, when we started the Jeep the tone was gone. Started the Jeep this morning and it's still gone.

Two questions: 1) Has anyone else experienced this? I couldn't find any threads that addressed this problem. 2) Besides a reboot with Fuse 11, anybody have other trouble shooting ideas?

Oh yes, we've been visiting Ghost Towns for the past three weeks - Saturday's trip included three close to home - but, I'm sure an exorcism is not required.

Do you have the active noise cancelling amplifier? if so there is a TSB for this issue. TSB # 08-151-18 'customer may describe hearing booming/humming/muffled/pulsing noise inside the cabin'

I am not sure what it sounds like, I dont have the active noise canceling amplifier. I would imagine its like that whine from a bad ground on an old radio. Take it in with the TSB number. have it re flashed and see what happens. its a quick and easy fix to try.

Thanks for the post--you are not alone. We had this issue several months ago but the following morning it was gone. It happened again last week. As was the case above, it did not go away with various stops and starts, but magically the next morning it was gone. Still gone...very strange.

Next time we will try the TSB with the dealer--thanks for the information.

So I'm driving around in my ram 1500 and I just had this happen, not 100% sure on cause but I have an assumption.

The tone is that of the parking sensor tone when your too close to an object front or back.

My guess is there is some software issue that occurs when your driving and getting close to an object to make the tone turn on ( like turning around in a driveway/getting close to a car in a parking lot or something) while at the same time changing audio input like blue tooth /fm/am etc.. and it somehow gets stuck in a loop. Then your left with that stupid audio tone overplaying on everything.

As for the fix, I'm not so sure? Seems like when you turn off the vehicle to allow the radio and all other modules to go to sleep, like over an hour it might fix itself?

I also had it happen to me about a month ago. Tried all sorts of ways to get it to stop. Started the Jeep the next morning and the tone was gone.

Mine started doing this today. No problems until I was leaving the tag agency with my new tag and $2300 in tax paid. Hopefully it will stop on its own.

Had tone appear after work, two hours later it was gone. Will still do tsb next time it’s in to be sure we don’t have a repeat incident.

I just had this same thing happen to me today, I started the Jeep and constant backup alarm tone. I tried everything and my 20 yr old son googled it and told me about the f11 fuse pull to reset. I was skeptical since f11 looked like it was for the USB port but it worked. I sure hope Jeep fixes this issue soon.

I also just experienced the same issue, but in my new Grand Cherokee. So presumably this is related to UConnect overall and not specific to the Wrangler. It came on out of the blue. I tried what others have suggested (disconnecting phones, resetting UConnect, turning off/on car, etc) but nothing worked. I did also go outside and wipe off all the front and rear sensors, and when I turned on the car later the tone was gone. However there was a bit of a time gap so I'm not sure if that was the fix or not....

I've had it happen twice. Once about 3 months ago which went away on it's own the next time I started it. Then it happened to me again today. It has not stopped yet through several starts. Of note, if I select USB 1,2 or 3 as a source, it goes away. Anything else and it reappears.

It's not associated with noise cancelling. I'm familiar with that booming, fluttering sound. This is just a simple electronic tone very much like this one:

Hi Jungle31,
Please let us know via private message if you decide to have your dealer look into this. We would like to have this documented and have a case escalated in your behalf so a Case Specialist can work with your dealer to help find a potential solution.
