Comparing rock sliders for 2 door 2025 models

I thought about posting this in the forum more geared towards rock sliders, but there are way more options for 4-door models than 2-door models and I didn't want to have to keep dealing with recommendations for 4-door options.

I'm looking for rock sliders that can support the full weight of the vehicle and can be used with a hi líft jack. So that favors weld on versus bolt on options. The two options that I'm focused on are the Next Venture Rimrocker and the Motobuilt Frame Mounted Rocker Guards.

FWIW, I think the Motobuilt sliders look a little better and they're a little cheaper. But the design seems similar, so I doubt there's much difference in strength and functionality. I'd lean towards Motobuilt for these reasons but I'm curious what other folks experience has been and if you'd recommend one over the other. I'm still not ruling out bolt on sliders - just exploring options and these two options are what I'm leaning towards right now.

If it matters, I'll be installing a metalcloak full belly skid plate system (already ordered, but need to get lift done first). I mention this because it occurred to me that there could be incompatibility or extra work involved depending on which skid plates and sliders are combined.

Another thing I noticed, for the bolt on options anyway, is that some options only support 2 door JLs up to 2023, not 2024+. So I assume there was some change in the bolt locations in the frame from 2023 to 2024 for 2-door models (I have a 2025), but I couldn't find any details on this. The issue might be moot for weld on options, but I'm keeping this in mind in case I circle back to bolt on options.

I have the ace sliders on a MY18 4 door and they are solid. I bought the same sliders for MY24 and the sliders themselves are solid, but they do flex a little. I also had to cut one of the washers for them to fit. I think the mounts on the MY24 and up are different which is why they say they only work up to MY24 and up. They work and have supported the weight of the vehicle but I am slightly concerned about the movement. Time will tell, I guess.

Just to clarify, I don't have the xtreme 35" package. But it's an interesting point to consider the OEM upgrade with the sliders that came with this package.

"Right" or ""Wrong" depends on intended use and I'm still in learning mode on this one (my first JL). But from my limited experience and some reading on the subject, the sliders that come with the xtreme package bolt to the body tub pinch seam and body mounts, not to the frame. So they are likely not as protective as a frame mounted (especially welded) option in more extreme situations (higher impact, supporting weight of vehicle, and using a hi lift).

Since my goals are to set this vehicle up to be a highly capable rock crawling rig, and I'm planning to upgrade anyway, I'm leaning towards a frame welded option. I know I'll be using the rock sliders a lot, so I'm looking for the path of "least regret" (within reason, since I'm keeping it street legal and I don't have an unlimited budget).

Thanks. I just checked these out after you mentioned them. My understanding is that the "ACE JL Rock Sliders (2 Door)" (https://aceengineeringandfab.com/products/ace-jl-rock-sliders-2-door) are body mounted. I'm planning to stick with frame mounted options, but those look good.

I was also looking at some frame-mounted/bolted options, but skipping over body-mounted options.

I have the Rockhard Patriot rock sliders. I don't think you could damage these things if you tried. Stout as all get-out. I like the way they look too!

These are the ones I have. I haven't hit them off road yet but I have used them to jack the Jeep up so both tires on that side are off the ground. They have a little flex but don't ever touch the pinch weld.

I ended up ordering the Motobuilt sliders. I'm having them powder coated and welded on by a local 4x4 shop. But it will probably be a couple weeks at least before this gets done.

I realized I never posted a pic of these (Motobilt sliders) installed, so here's a couple recent ones...

They've only made contact with rocks (and dirt in washouts) a few times, but no issues and I've been happy with them. As an added benefit I can stand on them like a step which is handy in some situations. Occasionally, I'll here a rock coming off my tires hitting the sliders.
